Mahito has cemented himself as one of the most hated characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, incurring the wrath of the Great Green Owl himself: Duo. The Duolingo owl wowed audiences in anticipation of season 2 by dressing up as Sukuna, the chief antagonistic force in the manga and anime.

The official Duolingo account X sent out a very emotionally charged tweet about Mahito after his crimes in the previous episode, which also prompted the Green Owl to talk about his favourite character. Given that even Duo has taken to social media to talk about Mahito and why he has become the most hated character in the fandom, shows how much of a cultural impact the character has managed to make in his brief existence.

Taking to X, the official Duolingo account on the platform began a discourse with some fans about how they feel about Jujutsu Kaisen, leaving a lot of fans reeling from the interaction, asking the Green Owl questions regarding the series. For starters, the initial tweet from the handle has garnered quite a reaction from fans.

Hilariously joking that the character ‘For sure didn’t do his lessons’, the handle referred back to the popular internet meme about Duo going after those who do not complete the daily lessons that are mandated on the app. However, beyond just what the official handle tweets out, Duo also dressed up as Sukuna, posting the photo online.

This just goes to prove that the popularity of anime has resulted in corporations, even ones as familiar as Duolingo, to include them in their content and communication strategy.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been the most popular anime that has been around for a while. Replacing the hype of My Hero Academia and scratching the Naruto-sized itch for the fans of the genre, the anime has taken over the hearts and minds of internet users with its breathtaking action, and nuanced storytelling, putting it alongside properties like Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan.

Jujutsu Kaisen, beyond Duo commenting on the various characters and plot developments, has a large and healthy following online. Each subsequent episode has been garnering a bigger response online, especially since fan relations have been turning against other hits like Chainsaw Man, and other popular anime come to an end, like Attack on Titan.
