Foxx may have portrayed many brave characters in his career, but his bravery was put to the test when he encountered a real-life situation where he had to pull a man out of a burning car to save his life.
Despite feeling proud of himself for saving a life, the actor raised himself even higher in fans’ eyes when he refrained from boasting about it and remained modest. However, his great gesture did garner a lot of attention in the media. Moreover, the actor received an overwhelming reaction from the survivor’s father.
Jamie Foxx became a real-life hero after saving a man’s life
Jamie Foxx is a renowned actor who has delivered many incredible films throughout his career. The Oscar-winning actor has a big name in the film industry as he has established himself in Hollywood over time. Apart from his contribution to the acting field, Foxx is also known for his courageous acts and generosity.
Previously, the actor garnered attention for rescuing a man from a burning car. In 2016, Foxx made headlines in almost every news outlet for his courageous act. Foxx put himself in danger to save the life of a man who was stuck inside a burning car.
As reported by TMZ, the car that met with the accident appeared to have skidded on a wet road, hit a ditch, and flipped upside down. This incident took place right before Foxx’s house and when he got alerted about the accident, he ran to the scene and found a man juggling between life and death.
Without any second thought, Foxx indulged himself in danger and pulled out the man of the burning car. Later police intervened in the accident. According to a cop (via ABC News), the cops shared details about the incident claiming,
“Two witnesses that were near the collision scene ran to the burning, overturned truck in an attempt to free the driver. One of the witnesses retrieved a rescue tool from his vehicle allowing the two citizens to break the window, cut the seat belt, and extricate the driver.”
Further, it was revealed by the cop that the survivor was identified as Brett Kyle, who was driving his Toyota Tacoma under the influence of alcohol. Later he was arrested under the charges of drink-and-drive. According to Nickiswifit, Foxx also shared his experience during an interview. The actor recalled the terrifying moment and said,
“He has EMT scissors, hits the window, clears the glass. I climb in and try to hit his seat belt, but he’s hovered over, so the seat belt is on him. So I grabbed the scissors from him, and cut the seat belt, but it was on his neck. So I cut it off his neck.”
Fortunately, Kyle was hospitalized at the right time and received the right treatment. His family members showed gratitude towards Foxx, for saving their son’s life.
Jamie Foxx remained modest despite saving a life
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight Foxx shared that he isn’t proud of himself for saving someone’s life as he considers it as an act of humanity. He said, “I don’t look at it as heroic, I look at it, like, you just had to do something and it all just worked out.”
It’s indeed very great of Foxx to not take credit for his bravery, but his good deeds didn’t go unnoticed as the survivor’s father showed his gratitude to Foxx for saving his son’s life. According to Nickiswift (via ABC), the father of Brett Kyle, tearfully stated, “It doesn’t matter to me who it was, or what they do for a living, or whatever. Just the idea that someone would do that is so much more than I can fathom … It’s all tears of joy. He’s got two sisters and a brother, they would’ve lost their brother if it wasn’t for him.”
Later, Foxx personally met the victim’s father and shared a photo with him on his Instagram. He also wrote a heartfelt caption for the post. He wrote, “Met the father of the young man from last night today. This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”
His courageous act and big heart indeed prove that Jamie Foxx is a real hero in every sense.
