Michael Shannon shocked fans when he played General Zod. And quickly enough he earned their praise for doing a spectacular job with the role. However, when he played Zod the next time, in The Flash, he wasn’t amazed by it at all.

In an interview with Collider, he remarked regarding his reappearance as General Zod,

“I’m not gonna lie, it wasn’t quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures… It’s not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt Man of Steel was. Whether people think that’s crazy or not, I don’t even care. I really felt like Man of Steel was actually a pretty sophisticated story.”

Even though the movie failed and he wasn’t satisfied with his role, Shannon still managed to deliver a great performance.
