The actor was once indeed obsessed with winning an Oscar and Jackson has indeed given Oscar-worthy performances over the years. With a plethora of films and roles to his name, Samuel L. Jackson has proved himself countless times to be one of the finest actors in Hollywood.
In an interview with the LA Times, the actor talked about his past while he was sad about the Oscar loss for Pulp Fiction and how he had a special clause attached to his contract to prove his point. During the interview, Jackson revealed that when he was working alongside an Academy Award winner he asked for one million dollars more than his co-star because Jackson knew what he was capable of!
“I remember doing a movie with an Academy Award-winner. I specifically had a clause in my contract that said I had to make a million more dollars than him because he doesn’t put [people] in seats — I do. It’s knowing who you are and what you’re doing.”
As the interview continued, Jackson talked about his past and earlier days in Hollywood when he starred in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction. The actor revealed that he was sad when he didn’t win an Oscar for Pulp Fiction but he got over it after some time.
Samuel L. Jackson Got Over The Need For An Oscar
With decades’ worth of experience in Hollywood, the actor has only ever been nominated for one Oscar. Starring in the role of Jules Winnfield, the actor was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role but he didn’t win it. In his interview with the LA Times, the actor talked about the Oscar snub and how he got over the heartbreak over the years.
“As jaded as I wanted to be about it, you know thinking, ‘Well, I should have won an Oscar for this or should have won for that and it didn’t happen,’ once I got over it many years ago, it wasn’t a big deal for me. I always have fun going to the Oscars. I always look forward to getting a gift basket for being a presenter,”
Starring in almost every Quentin Tarantino movie and as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samuel L. Jackson was last seen in the role of Nick Fury in 2023’s The Marvels. The actor is attached to eight other upcoming projects in various stages of development.
