Matthew  McConaughey has reportedly been reluctant to take a DNA test to settle the matter, citing concerns that, at age 53, such a revelation could threaten his identity, despite Harrelson’s repeated calls for such a test.

In anticipation of their on-screen reunion in the upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series Brother From Another Mother, the two actors’ personal relationship may take on a new dimension, adding a strange and beautiful bond to their endearing odd couple love story.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harrelson talked about an interesting conversation with Matthew  McConaughey’s mother, whom he knows well. While discussing his father, Harrelson expressed regrets, to which Ma’ Mac gave a snarky response.

Harrelson was immediately drawn to the hints of sexual innuendo in her elliptical statement. Possible receipts and places in West Texas suggested a “knew” moment between his parents and Matthew McConaughey. He pieced together that his father was on furlough when McConaughey’s parents were going through their second divorce.

This news has piqued Harrelson’s suspicions about their relationship, and he now wants to take a DNA test to prove it. Harrelson has made no secret of his desire to confirm their sibling relationship with a DNA test.

He has been trying to recruit Matthew McConaughey for this mission, but the Dallas Buyers Club star has been more reluctant. McConaughey worries that the DNA test will have a negative effect on his sense of self, especially now that he is 53 years old.

Since the test results could question his long-held belief about his parentage, he feels he may be losing a father figure. However, Harrelson encourages Matthew McConaughey to take the test because he believes it will allow him to adopt a new father and brother.

“We want to go for a [DNA] test, but for him, it’s a much more big deal. I mean he feels like he is losing a father. But I’m like, no, you’re gaining a different father and a brother.”

Despite concerns and difficulties with the DNA test, Apple TV+ plans a reunion between McConaughey and Harrelson in the comedy series Brother From Another Mother. They’ll play fictionalized versions of themselves in the show, reuniting their families on a Texas ranch and living together under one roof.

If the DNA test confirms that Matthew McConaughey and Harrelson are biological brothers, it could have significant repercussions for both actors. For McConaughey, it could mean losing his sense of identity and possibly feeling like he’s losing a father.

For Harrelson, the news could be a source of pride, as he has always been open about his admiration for McConaughey. The two actors have a strong bond, and the idea of being brothers could strengthen that bond even further.
