One of the most prominent methods used to bring video game characters to life is by hiring real-life voice actors, who would then re-enact the dialogues and give the title a touch of reality.

However, as stated in an interview via GQ Magazine, Dan Houser, the writer for Red Dead Redemption 2 mentions how he avoided Roger Clark, which allowed him to preserve his own perspective of the main character he had built up until now. Further into the interview, he also appreciated the dedication Calrk put into the game, mentioning the following.

I grew up with my mother as an actress and she was always obsessed with accents, but the dude says 20,000 or 30,000 lines of dialogue in the game and there is not one where he drops it. He got so little wrong. What he gives to it is fantastic. It’s not really like people have seen in our games before.

The writer disclosed how Clark was able to take up such a big challenge and execute it flawlessly, appreciating the efforts put in by the voice actor. He further mentions how the performance was impressive enough that it turned out to be their finest work, as gamers had not witnessed this standard of voice acting in Rockstar’s games before.

Red Dead Redemption remains one of the studio’s most successful and renowned franchises, and many are awaiting a third installment in the series. However, there is one particular feature that was so underwhelming in the last release, that fans demand for it to be worked upon perfectly this time around.

Multiplayer remains a huge part of a lot of games made by Rockstar, including the massively successful GTA Online made available to the players. Unfortunately, RDR’s online remains ignored by the studio for the most part, witnessing a lack of updates and the addition of content, infuriating the fans. Ironically the game was also able to win the Labour of Love award presented by Steam Game Award 2023, which is a title dedicated to the studio that consistently tries to keep the game up-to-date and engaging for the players.
