Jamie Foxx Was Absolutely Surprise to Learn the Truth About Willem Dafoe

It’s no secret that Willem Dafoe‘s serious roles often came across as extremely intimidating to say the least, leading people, including Jamie Foxx, to feel a bit scared of him. Thus, Foxx, who is also a fan of Dafoe’s work, felt the added pressure to work alongside him for No Way Home. However, contrary to his terrifying character Norman Osborn in the Spider-Man franchise, Dafoe is quite the opposite in reality. The sheer intensity of his performances, like Osborn’s, led many, including Foxx, to believe Dafoe would be similar off-screen. In reality, Dafoe is a class clown. Speaking to Marvel.com, the Electro actor shared his experience working alongside legends,

“Just the most incredible people. When people have this sheer talent, like there’s no doubt about it, they’re just cooler. Mr. Dafoe — as I would call him — every time I walked onto set, I would bow seven times [at him]. I said, ‘I’m going to bow seven times because I’ve been watching [your movies] for years and you’re just amazing.’”

He further stated,

“It was just so funny and when he wasn’t doing his thing, he was doing jokes and everything like that, which is usually what I do; he had me on the ground cracking up. When you’re able to come together for something that’s fun, with people that you really admire and respect, that’s just the cherry on top”.

Although the opportunity to work in the presence of his idol was fantastic, getting to know him on a personal level, and witnessing his magical ability to make people laugh, made him even more of a fan.

In the interview with Marvel, Jamie Foxx also revealed what excited him the most about returning to the arena again as Electro. Besides, being completely unfamiliar with the new world he is thrown into, and working alongside industry legends, the old character this time around presented a new set of challenges for him to take on. He stated,

“The thing Electro gets in his chest; he gets ahold of [the arc reactor], that’s going to be crazy. And just looking to my right, and looking to my left, the people that were onset, and going, ‘Wow, It’s a moment.’ It transcends art right now. This is a moment that people- and I remember saying, ‘When you walk out sir, there will be cheers and tears.’”

All in all, it was indeed a great experience for all the actors to revisit their iconic characters once again as it was for the audiences.
