However, it was different for the stars who would certainly have given it their all to know what happened with their characters and whether they would survive till the end of the series or not. Even Gary Oldman, who played one of the marauders, was always bugging J. K. Rowling to know what happens with Sirius.

Harry Potter is more than mere fantasy books or a billion-dollar franchise, rather it is an emotion. As attached as fans and readers have found themselves of the books and characters, even the stars of the franchise have time and again expressed their deep love for their characters. Gary Oldman, who played the wronged wizard, Sirius, has always carried an extreme liking for him. He has time and again expressed that he wished he knew more than just the script at hand.

In the 2022 throwback/documentary movie, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts, Daniel Radcliffe sat down with Gary Oldman to discuss their characters’ relationship and filming the franchise. At one point, the Darkest Hour star expressed,

“I wish I’d had the whole picture. You know, we only ever found out from the book. I don’t know whether you were (in the know) because you were Harry Potter.”

Just then Radcliffe exclaimed that nobody except one person knew about the franchise’s ending, and it was none other than the late Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape.

“Rickman did, that was it… He had the inside line”.

And Gary Oldman was starstruck by the revelation.

When Daniel Radcliffe revealed that Alan Rickman had in fact known all about the magical world and even knew how the franchise would to an end, Oldman could not believe it. Completely blown away, he asked how that was even possible. To which The Lost City star explained,

“He very, very early said to Jo, he was like ‘I think I need to know what happened’. And he never told Chris and never told anyone.”

Still somewhat shocked to hear it since Oldman only knew his character dies when the book came out, he acknowledged that it seemed obvious Rickman would have an in.

“Chris would literally say to him why are you doing that and he said ‘I’ll tell you later’ (impersonating Rickman’s deep voice).”

Radcliffe then added that this was a fact that even annoyed the director Chris Columbus who of course would have done anything to know for the sake of better direction.
