Chris Tucker appeared in a special episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live held in Las Vegas in 2019. Tucker covered various topics in his discussion including life in Las Vegas, living next to Celine Dion, and his protectiveness for his son. Jimmy Kimmel also brought up the question about Jackie Chan and asked Tucker how it was working with the Kung Fu Yoga actor.

The Fifth Element actor had only great words of appreciation for Jackie Chan, revealing that Chan was very comfortable to work with on sets. Tucker also revealed a weird gift-giving habit of Jackie Chan. Chan would send Tucker a gift every day to his trailer on the sets of Rush Hour. The Silver Linings Playbook actor said:

“Jackie was so nice and I was so comfortable. But… Jackie would give me a gift every day. First Rush Hour, Jackie Chan would give me a gift. Every day, he would send it to my trailer and I was like ‘What’s going on??? He’s so nice.’”

Chris Tucker was initially uncomfortable with Jackie Chan’s daily gifts. Tucker felt compelled to give something back to him as well. At the same time, the Friday actor didn’t want to go broke trying to keep up with the $400M rich actor. However, the Jackie Brown actor decided against returning gifts citing a weird reason. Tucker took a stereotypical dig at Chan’s gift-giving habit:

“And I had to buy him something after a while. Then I realize, he’s from China. They make everything over there. He is getting it for free anyway. I almost went broke trying to keep up with him.”

The joke landed with Jimmy Kimmel’s audience as they burst into laughter over Tucker humiliating his co-star. Jackie Chan would have definitely got the joke and there was no bad blood over the stereotyping, evident from the fact that they are working together again.
