Mateen plays Black Manta whose father was killed by Aquaman despite having the opportunity to spare him on the path of redemption. Manta now has an army against Aquaman and he is almost unstoppable. Director James Wan and movie’s lead Jason Momoa recently commented on the villain that would further enhance the curiosity among fans.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan and star Jason Momoa recently commented on the movie’s villain Black Manta in a teaser video released by Warner Brothers. Manta and his army “end up discovering the Lost Kingdom of Necrus,” Wan said in the video. 

Mamoa added to Wan’s comment, “Manta finds this trident and takes on the power.” DC co-head Peter Safran also commented on the DC villain, saying, “He’s more powerful than ever, he has a whole new Manta suit, whole new Manta look.” 

The recent video featuring comments from the makers and stars has certainly enhanced the anticipation among fans. The countdown has started, the movie will hit the theaters in just 6 days. The previous trailers have established a rigid statement about the essence of Manta and the test of Aquaman in the battle against him.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Commented on His Black Manta

For Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Aquaman 2 is an exciting project that explores the DC villain with great detail. The Aquaman nemesis will certainly give a hard time to Arthur Curry. Reflecting on his character, Mateen also commented on the video released on the official Warner Brothers YouTube channel. 

“Black Manta is not just driven by hate, he’s driven by love. His father was killed by Aquaman who had an opportunity to show mercy but didn’t. This need for vengeance haunts him night and day,” Mateen said.

The actor added that “he’s possessed by the spirit of evil. James [Wan] elevated the game in terms of the scales. He has two Titans clashing against each other.” Aquaman 2 will certainly be an action-packed superpower combat with a worthy villain. “I’m excited about giving the audience something excited to see,” the actor concluded. Fans will get to see Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in theaters on 22 December 2023.
