Conor McGregor talks about the response to Road House
Professional mixed martial artist Conor McGregor plays Knox in Jake Gyllenhaal starrer Road House. He recently spoke to Extra (via Marca) about the response that the movie received upon its premiere at the SXSW Festival;
“For real, I’ve never seen fight scenes like that in any movie. The connection on the target and the sound and the speed and the place. I’ve never seen it anything like that in a movie. That’s a hat tip to Garret Warren and his stunt team, who were very helpful for us too, all of us on set, and we made magic on that movie.”
McGregor went ahead to compliment Gyllenhaal by stating that he has 75 movies under his belt and he has 75 bar fights under his belt, noting that they were a perfect combination together. The professional boxer added that the cast and crew were very patient with him and very helpful, mentioning that he feels grateful to land up in business here.
The MMA icon, in his conversation with Total Film via Games Radar, had revealed that the role of Knox wasn’t the first role he was offered in Hollywood. He said,
“I’ve had directors show up at fight camp, really beautiful directors doing really top-end movies…And over and over, they’d come to me and I always turned them down…I’d leave people a little high and dry.”
McGregor added that he probably has a few enemies out there, and he doesn’t know because he said, ‘I might do it’. Talking about Road House, the MMA artist said that he was in awe of the entire process adding that he is not an actor but he is a show business and the movie was just his vibe and he enjoyed every second of it.
Conor McGregor talks about his inspiration for his nude scene in Road House
The professional boxer via MMA Fighting dwelled upon his nude scene in the movie as he said,
“It was a little too much a**. Just a little too much. The last shot was not necessary. Could have just been the back. The back was solid. I’m just here to perform.”
McGregor revealed that his inspiration for the scene was none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had filmed a nude scene in 1984’s The Terminator. He explained that his lady Heather is his physical therapist, and she has helped McGregor throughout his career, which eventually resulted in him forming a close bond with the actor. He said to himself that if Arnie could do it, he could do it too and simply channeled the inner, Arnie, the inner Terminator, and performed the nude scene.

There’s definitely a space for him in Hollywood. People can joke but he would thrive in action movies.
