Sony’s release of Helldivers 2 has not only brought us a game that perfectly serves the need for a fun co-op experience but also a game revolving around community. Arrowhead Studios, responsible for developing the title, often interacts with the players themselves to see what they might need, and adds them to the game, like the recent addition of Exosuits, or Mechas.
Likewise, a fun-to-play multiplayer game will go viral on the internet with clips of the player enjoying the experience, as witnessed many times before with other games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty. This time around, it was this Instagram Post, which has got fans reminiscing about the recent Dune: Part Two.
Viral Helldivers 2 Instagram Reel Reminds Fans Of Timothée Chalamet’s Performance In Dune
The reel mentioned above was posted by a content creator who showcased himself riding a giant Terminid to the battlefield in the game. The creator also captioned the video as “I am Lisan Al Gaib” as a reference to the Dune franchise, which had its latest installment released recently starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya once again.
Reacting to the viral post, users commented-
“Thats no treason, he just took a hostage in the most badass way“
-@daku004, replying to another comment
“The Madhi is too humble to say He is the Madhi. Even more reason to know He is! As written!“
-@wyatt_dupont
“They must have patched this, I did this last night and got killed by the crushing claws even though I was on its back“
-@bmaimages
“Ohh, you ARE going to have your opportunity to ride a Shai-hulud. Just you WAIT until they come back 💀“
-@aluzidann
“DON’T GIVE DEVS IDEA FOR NEW TERMINID I’D SH*T MY PANTS IF I SEE A SAND WORMS IN HD2“
-@malzeick
“Feels bad for the dudes mech that probably died at the end… but still… LISAN AL GAIB!!!”
-@jtan_90
The post essentially compared the riding of a giant Terminid to that of riding a sandworm in the stated movie series, a fact which was noted well by all the users who replied to the original post, expressing what they felt after seeing that such a mechanic even exists in the game.
While the game might be compared to the recent release of Dune: Part Two, it does not change the fact that Helldivers 2 owes a part of its huge success to another video game title that was released over 3 decades ago. We are talking about how many of the fundamental elements were pioneered by the first ever Doom title, which came out in 1993.
Why Helldivers 2 Owes Its Success To The First-Ever Doom Title
Talking about the significance of the game he created, John Romero, the creator of the Doom franchise, mentioned how the title’s importance cannot be overestimated. This statement stands true, as many of the features that are made available to players in Helldivers 2 were first properly explored in the 1993 Doom title.
To be more precise, Arrowhead Studio’s latest release offers the player the ability to play online multiplayer modes, which was introduced by the aforementioned video game back in 1993. Another factor that would offer an insight into John Romero and his games’ importance to the industry is how he was the one to coin the term “Deathmatch“, a vividly used game mode in many recent games.
Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
