The top three highest-grossing movies of this year point to an interesting trend: you don’t need traditionally macho lead to dominate at the box office anymore. Margot Robbie’s female-centric movie Barbie comfortably sits at the summit. The Super Mario Bros. Movie – whose protagonist is Italian plumber Mario – sits in second place. Third-placed Oppenheimer is a documentary feature on a skinny (but immeasurably genius) theoretical physicist.

Still, there’s a large section of fans who miss the sight of seeing the likes of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s John Matrix flex their muscles and take on enemies without any extraterrestrial powers.

They are in luck as Stallone is returning to the big screen with Expend4bles. And as far as Schwarzenegger is concerned, we don’t have any concrete update on his next old-school action movie, but we do have the next best thing: a YouTube video of him giving tips on looking more shredded.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Explains How to Lose Belly Fat

One cannot talk about Hollywood’s era of muscular protagonists without mentioning Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Both were never considered versatile actors. Instead, they brilliantly maximized the potential of their gifted physical prowess.

Schwarzenegger, in particular, is famous for playing characters who speak less and fight more, and considering the way he rose to fame in his 20s, it’s not a surprise. Before making it big in Hollywood, he was already a top bodybuilder. He has won the Mr. Olympia title seven times.

As such, the 76-year-old might not be the best actor in Hollywood to go to if one is looking for acting tips, however, if you are aspiring for a better-looking physique, he should be the go-to man. Obviously, everyone can’t get a one-on-one session with Schwarzenegger. However, in 2017, in an interview with TopNewsage, he gave his fans tips on losing belly fat.

The Terminator star said:

“I just saw a guy the other day go to the gym, an old friend of mine, who obviously was muscular. 20 years later I’ve seen him for the first time again, and he’s still muscular, but all of a sudden he had guts sticking out. It literally looked like he was eight months pregnant. Everything else was muscular.”

He continued:

“It was only the stomach because that’s where the guys get attacked. The simple rule is: whenever you eat fattening foods or you get older and your metabolism slows down, where does it go first with a guy? It goes through the stomach. But also when you go on a diet, the first place it leaves is the stomach.

“There is no specific diet for the stomach, it’s just, in general, you want to lose your body fat… The way to do that is by burning more calories every day than you eat.”

Apart from suggesting his fans to target net negative calorie intake, he also recommended they do stomach exercises and cardiovascular movements as well as lift weights.

His final tip was: “Don’t forget to do the vacuum.” The vacuum pose is supposedly done to train the brain in the function of pulling the stomach in and not letting it hang out.

Why Arnold Schwarzenegger Isn’t Part of the Expendables 4

Apart from ruling the box office numerous times with their own different franchises, the two muscular stars have joined hands to great effect in the Expendables franchise.

Stallone is reprising the role of Barney Ross in Expend4bles, but Schwarzenegger won’t return as Trench in the movie that is scheduled to hit the theaters on September 22.

The Commando star suggested he wasn’t very keen on doing the same thing for the fourth time. “It’s done and I’m not in it. I said, ‘You know what, we have done this and I’m out of it.’ And [Stallone] really understood,” he said.

However, Schwarzenegger did say he plans to collaborate with the Rocky star for a different project.
