“He threw the album hard at me”: Tom Cruise Hit His Manager for Being Called a Teenage Idol Only to Feel Threatened by Robert Pattinson Years Later

Tom Cruise Lost His Temper On Being Called A Teen Star

Tom Cruise’s former manager Eileen Berlin opened up in an interview about the short-tempered nature of the A-lister. While talking to Daily Mail, she recalled presenting an album comprising all the articles about Cruise from the teen magazines on the actor’s 19th birthday. But the megastar was less than impressed by the gift. She recalled,

“He screamed, ‘I don’t want to be in the teen mags.’ He had told me he considered himself an adult, not a teen idol. He threw the album hard at me and it hit me on the cheek.”

She further added,

“Tommy had a terrible temper. He harbored a lot of anger at his natural father. He was moody and would get angry in a snap of your fingers.” 

Eileen Berlin was his first manager and worked till the release of his first Top Gun movie in 1986.

Tom Cruise Was Reportedly Threatened By Robert Pattinson’s Teen Idol Image

Tom Cruise and Robert Pattinson are among the most popular actors and ones who enjoy a massive fan following. The two actors worked together for the promo of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. Jack Reacher star had dressed up as Les Grossman, a character from his 2008 film Tropic Thunder, and in the promo, he is seen grooming Pattinson. The actor also went on stage in the same get-up with singer-actress Jennifer Lopez.

As per the rumor buzz at the time, it seemed like Cruise was trying too hard despite being the top star of Hollywood. People assumed that the reason for his extra effort was that, he was kind of afraid of the young star Robert Pattinson’s popularity.

A film producer shared with Hollywood Life,

“Tom is working hard to stay relevant because if this movie doesn’t do well, then he’s lost his mojo.”

Sources also revealed that Jack Reacher star felt that he was not the teen idol anymore, hence was trying hard to overshadow The Twilight star. As per reports, Cruise’s movie Knight and Day was set to release around The twilight saga: Eclipse, as the actor thought Robert Pattinson’s movie would not get much audience. However, it turned out to be a blockbuster hit, grossing around $698.4 million worldwide.
