“He would be a much better Doctor Doom than Mads Mikkelsen”: Cillian Murphy’s MCU Debut Rumors as Doom Is Too Good to be True For Marvel Fans

Cillian Murphy’s cinematic journey has been astounding as the actor has been promising in his versatile ability to perform any role. The actor rose to prominence worldwide following his role in The Dark Knight franchise while he enhanced his prowess in Peaky Blinders and most recently Oppenheimer.

Now, as Marvel is eyeing shifting their storyline from Kang to Doctor Doom, there are reports and rumors surfaced online reflecting on the speculation, who will play Doom? While Mads Mikkelsen was in the mix, fans got a hint of Cillian Murphy’s MCU debut as Doom, but it’s hard to believe for anyone at this point.

Will Cillian Murphy Make His MCU Debut?

One thing is sure, Cillian Murphy is very keen on playing comic book roles. Earlier, he auditioned for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy and ended up playing Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow. In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, the actor revealed that he’s open to playing the role.

“I mean, I’m always… Everything revolves around the script. So I’ll read… I’ll read any scripts that are sent to me. And you never know what you’ll find… That’s what I enjoy most about my job. I had no idea Chris [Nolan] would call me [in 2021] with [Oppenheimer]. You know, it just happens, and that’s the beauty of this profession; it’s so unpredictable and wild,” Murphy said.

Murphy has the great caliber to play any role with his astounding charisma and he would definitely justify the role of Doctor Doom in MCU’s Fantastic Four. Regardless, Marvel Studios is on the buzz for the casting process of Fantastic Four and if Murphy joins the MCU, it would be a delight for fans.

Fans Are Not Buying The Speculation

Given the nature of Murphy and his experimental shift towards the roles he plays, fans are doubtful about the Oppenheimer actor’s MCU debut as the iconic villain. For many, it would be unreal. Of course, it would be a huge commitment on the actor’s part and several actors have dedicated parts of their careers to the studio, it would be interesting if Murphy would commit to the role that would run for several years. Fans found Murphy’s speculated MCU commitment too good to be true.

As of now, it is still being determined about the cast of Fantastic Four. It would be interesting to see who gets to play the heroes and villains in the movie that has created several debates online and the buzz has created a worthy hype for the movie.

Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on 2 May 2025.
