Mark Ruffalo has made a name for himself playing the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while now. He joined the MCU in 2012 and won the fans’ hearts with the way he portrayed both characters, Dr. Bruce Banner, a genius scientist, and his alter-ego the Hulk, the not-so-smart monster who destroys everything in his way.

But for the actor, MCU is the only major franchise that he has been a part of as he prefers working in independent movies more. And he thinks that his father would not be happy with the choices he has made.

One such actor was Mark Ruffalo, he prefers, even now, doing more independent movies, despite playing the Hulk in the MCU. He, himself confessed that when he watched Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, he developed a different perspective on superhero movies and that is what convinced him. But he has previously turned down offers for playing roles in franchises. He also believes that his father would not have liked it.

He shared in an interview with Australia’s Sunday Herald-Sun (as quoted by MTV News),

“Five for me and one for them. I have never really been one to go for the cash. If my dad knew how much money I had turned in my lifetime he would kick me in the ass”.

He stated that despite major franchises offering big paychecks, he doesn’t choose them and his father would be mad at him if he found out the huge amounts the actor has turned just because he prefers independent movies.

Robert Downey Jr. is often credited for kickstarting the MCU, but that is not all he has done for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many actors have confessed that the reason they joined the MCU was Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans even once stated that he was like a mentor to them. In the list of actors who joined MCU because of the Iron Man actor, is Mark Ruffalo.

“I probably wouldn’t have done this movie in the past… But because of what Robert [Downey Jr] had done and where that genre has gone since then, I did it”.

All the Marvel fans are glad that Mark Ruffalo did pick the role as he has portrayed the character so perfectly, portraying the two personalities as two different characters; just like it should have always been. But the Marvel fans are still waiting for his solo entry as he is the only major Avengers character who hasn’t had one so far.
