Thanks to Praydog’s UEVR mod, Hellblade 2 is now playable in full 6DOF VR, giving you the option to experience the game in first-person. The UEVR mod allows PC gamers to play over 10,000 Unreal Engine games in VR. This mod is a must-have for VR fans since UEVR works universally and can be used right out of the box.
Since Hellblade 2 is powered by Unreal Engine 5, it’s already compatible with UEVR right from the start. For those with a VR headset, all you have to do is download UEVR and then then grab the VR profile for Hellblade 2. You also have the option to disable the black bars (letterboxing), and also remove the chromatic aberration, depth of field, and film grain effects—something that even the default game doesn’t allow for.

UEVR adds VR compatibility to Hellblade 2, letting you play in both first-person and third-person VR with full 6DOF. The game already has stunning photorealistic visuals and graphical fidelity, and playing it this way will definitely make for a breathtaking VR experience.

This setup would be rather demanding, so you’ll need a very powerful PC. Nvidia RTX 4090 and above are recommended by the mod’s creators. You can also check out the Flat2VR Discord community for any questions, including troubleshooting and other bugs or glitches. They have a profile specifically for Hellblade 2 in VR.
Many YouTubers have already praised the mod and uploaded gameplay videos, showcasing the impressive visuals and the even more immersive experience in VR. It’s important to remember that this is only a mod and not an official VR port. It might have some bugs and may not be as polished as a first-party release by the main developers itself.
Hellblade 2 is Sure to Be an Intense Experience in VR
That’s not to say that the game isn’t as intense as it is. It was just released on May 21st to positive reviews, with many praising its intense combat, immersive gameplay, and production design and quality. There’s also been constant praise for its depiction of mental health, psychological themes, and amazing sound design. All of the best features of the game will definitely be highlighted even further when playing in VR.
Gamers have primarily critiqued the overall story and gameplay. Many believe that the plot and execution aren’t quite as strong as those of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, nor do they have the same emotional impact or quality as the ground-breaking first game of the series.
The lack of complexity and variation in the gameplay has also drawn criticism. Although there was room for more creativity, not enough changes or improvements have been made. It can also get repetitive after a while, due to the lack of variety in combat and gameplay mechanics. Nonetheless, playing it in VR is sure to be a whole different experience, and possibly even the best way to experience it.
