Helldivers 2 is one of the best live-service games of the year but the community has grown tired of fighting the same enemies in an endless loop. The game is in dire need of some improvements and the Illuminate might fill in the void and convince the players to dive back in.
It is essential to have a consistent stream of support from developers when it comes to live-service games and director Johan Pilestedt is hard at work coming up with new ideas. Players could lose interest in the game if developers fail to catch their attention and meet expectations.
The Helldivers 2 Illuminate Could Bring back the Thrill
It wasn’t long ago when the character design of the Illuminate was revealed and it is what nightmares are made of. Perhaps these creatures have a stronger bite than their striking physical appearance and could be the hook that will give the game the attention it deserves. Some players claimed that the Automatons pose a much more entertaining threat than other enemy types like the Terminids and described the experience as overwhelming.

The director acknowledges that the game is lacking in enemy variety and hints that more is coming. Players have grown bored and could stop playing entirely until a new set of content drops. Some players even suggested a unique mission type involving the Terminid which could be a whole lot of fun with friends or a major pain to play through.
Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to call out Joel, the game master, and demand something more challenging. Perhaps it was all intentional for players to be overwhelmed as his way to retaliate and his immediate response to make players retract their previous statement. The community is split down the middle and the developers need something to bring them together and the Illuminate might be the answer, otherwise, the boredom may creep in and players may leave the fight for freedom.
The Illuminate Could Be the Savior of Helldivers 2
The gaming community has gotten quite creative, and one fan envisioned combining all hulks and devastators into the ultimate nightmare. This kind of content will get the blood pumping and adrenaline rushing for players and they will need to hunker down together and come up with a plan to take it down. Perhaps it is best for the developers to take a look at social media and look at what the community has come up with and apply it into the game.
The developers also took it a little too far with their balancing efforts and even Pilestedt noticed. The director promised to take it up with the right personnel and make the proper adjustments for a smooth gaming experience. Perhaps the changes made in scaling were the very reason that made the Terminid forces too much to handle.
