As the year draws to a close in just four months, the most successful games in terms of sales and net revenue have already begun to emerge. In a recent list that went viral on X, you can see which games have generated the most money on Steam.
The top three are Counter-Strike 2, followed by one of the most popular titles of the year, Helldivers 2, and close behind is Palworld. This shows that the popular games released earlier this year have continued to find success in 2024.
Helldivers 2 and Palworld Closely Trail Counter-Strike 2 in Terms of Net Revenue
Steam, which is the most popular PC gaming library, is always a favorable way to measure the success of games. The large number of active players on this platform often leads to the release of various measurements at the end of the year.
Various lists are now being released revealing which titles were the most successful of the year in terms of revenue. X published this list, revealing a surprising top three.
To no one’s surprise, Counter-Strike 2 remains the most popular game on the platform and generates the most revenue every year. Fortunately, and not far behind, is the popular and relatively new Helldivers 2, which has generated over $450 million in net revenue since its release in February.

Another of the year’s big successes follows this Arrowhead Game Studios title in third place, with a slightly smaller margin of profit.
The Current Net Revenue List Is Now Available
Just below Helldivers 2 is Palworld, with estimated earnings of just under $400 million so far this year. This game sold millions of downloads at launch, so it’s no surprise it’s high on this list considering the major success that it was at the beginning of the year.
The first major battle royale, PUBG, holds the fourth spot with over $270 million, despite not being as popular as before and a difference of more than $100 million.
Given how popular these games were at release, many of these figures aren’t surprising. Even so, the year isn’t over yet, and there’s a chance that a new contender could emerge and generate significant revenue when it becomes available on this popular platform.
Every major PC game always aims to be at the top of the Steam rankings to generate as much money as possible.
The two previously mentioned games still have active studios behind them, trying to generate all sorts of content to attract new players in the coming months.
Not long ago, the studio behind Helldivers 2 released a major update that adds all kinds of new and varied content, completely free for the community. These kinds of strategies are the most fruitful in attracting new players.
