Helldivers 2‘s Game Master Joel is back with an announcement regarding bugs, but sadly for players, this is a different kind of bug than the ones they are used to squashing week in, week out. The immensely popular game encountered an unexpected setback when the progress of the Galactic War was not being tracked properly.

In spite of 222,000 players contributing towards the cause of spreading managed democracy on Fori Prime, the game still shows the planet to be in a stalemate.

This has thrown a wrench in the plans for players because, at this rate, they would need tens of millions of players to take the week’s planets in time. And despite its skyrocketing popularity, Helldivers 2 isn’t that popular yet.

Forget Terminids, a Software Bug Is Disrupting Helldivers 2

The bug is completely ruining the user experience.

Helldivers are well-equipped to deal with Terminids. Game Master Joel of Helldivers 2 has been throwing a lot of challenges at the players, but they are riding all of them with ease. Save the latest ones, which are riddled with bugs, software bugs to be exact.

In a Discord post, the community manager for Arrowhead Game Studios, Baskinator, shared a message supposedly penned by Joel himself. The message started with, “A message for everyone from the Game Master” and then continued,

Helldivers! We’re aware of an issue with the Galactic War not tracking your effective spread of Liberty properly. We are investigating this urgently and will keep you posted as soon as we understand the issue and have a fix to communicate to you. Thanks very much for your patience while we squash some software bugs.

But all is not going well in the fight to spread managed democracy currently, with players experiencing an unusually high number of crashes, especially after the latest patch was deployed. Another community manager from the company, Twinbeard, requested patience from the players saying,

We know that many of you are [experiencing] a lot of crashes at the moment (seemingly linked to the patch deployed earlier today, which at least resolved the persistent friend request issue for a lot of players). Our team is deep down in the trenches digging into the issue as we speak. We are on alert ready to update on any changes here. We’re very sorry everyone for not being able to supply you with the glorious feeling of bug and bot stomping and hope to have the game more stable as soon as possible.

How soon the developers can stamp out the bugs remains to be seen. But players are raring to get back to spread Liberty for Super Earth across the galaxy, and some of them are getting pretty impatient.

Helldivers 2 Players Waiting for Joel’s Signal

There’s a reason he’s called Game Master.

Game Master Joel is renowned for throwing 2 to 3 planets at players and giving them a week or so to liberate them. But by the looks of it, the software bug has substantially hampered the progress at Arrowhead Game Studios.

With the developers working hard to get the game back on track, players can only hope that the issues get resolved soon. No matter what, players are raring to go back into battle against Terminids and Automatons despite the recent setback.

We are waiting for further updates from the developers regarding the status of the bug fixes, but given the track record of Arrowhead, players can expect it to be sometime soon.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
