Helldivers 2 is still not out of the woods just yet, especially in regions where it was recently pulled out. Johan Pilestedt, who serves as the game director and the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios chimed in on the conversation and has some promising news for the fans.
The whole controversy began when Sony released a new mandate where PC players will be required to link their Steam accounts with the PlayStation Network. However, not all regions are covered by the service which prompted the publisher to remove the game in said regions.
Helldivers 2 Will Be Playable in the 180 Regions Without PSN
The gaming community came together and fought against the publisher’s mandate for PC players who are not fond of the decision to link accounts. Apart from being a risk to personal security, some regions are much stricter which makes it a hassle for players residing in the UK.
Sony delisted the video game in 177 countries without the PlayStation Network, leaving players feeling abandoned and it painted a target behind the back of the developers but the company reversed the decision, and restoration efforts are slowly being made.

The director made it his mission to get the stranded players back in the fight for democracy and Pilestedt will not rest until the game is restored to its former glory. The director clarified that the PlayStation Network will not be a requirement and players who bought the game will be able to play.
Even the developers knew there would be a significant backlash if this mandate was imposed but had their hands tied since Sony had the final say. Pilestedt is doing everything in his power to repair the damages made by the publisher.
However, it will take some time, and Arrowhead and Johan Pilestedt alike implore players to have patience and not lose hope. It can be annoying for PC players to have to go through this fiasco caused by Sony and the efforts of Pilestedt are an indication that the developers do care about the gaming community.

Three more countries have been added to the list of banned countries and even the director was surprised about it. Regardless, the players can hold onto the words of Pilestedt and believe that he can pull through for the gaming community.
Arrowhead is one of the victims here as well and became a prime target for harassment and online bullying which is unfair treatment. The instant removal of the video game can come across as cold and heartless.
Some Helldivers 2 players took it to the extreme and threatened to sue Sony for selling a product in regions where they knew beforehand that their network was not supported. Fortunately, the company made the right and only decision and reversed it for its sake.
