Sony Delisted Helldivers 2 and Arrowhead Is Taking the Fall

The decision to immediately remove the game from countries without Sony’s PlayStation Network rather than resolve it by widening the coverage of the network is a passive-aggressive move by the publishers. Players who purchased the game and spent countless hours are now feeling abandoned by Sony but the developers are on the receiving end of the hate which is unfair.

An argument can be made to counter this order by linking one account to another by raising the risks and vulnerabilities. It may be simple to create an account from scratch but it is not the same for other countries like the United Kingdom where players must submit several requirements which are all sensitive information that can be leaked or stolen.

Sony seems willing to abandon players without PSN accounts or refuse to risk losing their security. Even Johan Pilestedt is appalled by the whole situation and is extremely upset by how the players are retaliating by directly attacking the game by bombarding it with negative review scores.

Arrowhead Is the Victim and Sony Is Ruining Helldivers 2

These unfortunate turn of events will be remembered as the height of the corporate greed shown by Sony and its complete disregard for the gaming community as players have alleged. While the situation is still fluid and subject to change, the damage has already been done, and the players who reside in countries where the game is now delisted feel abandoned.

Pilestedt acknowledges the negativity being tossed around social media and can do nothing while his studio is being dragged in the mud. Moderators in the official Discord channel have had enough of the harassment and snapped which can be viewed as unprofessional and paints a bad image on the developers in general.

The game director had to step in once more and ask the community to understand the complexities of the situation and hope for the best. It is not impossible to resolve anything through a civilized conversation, like the theme of the game where players are now literally and figuratively fighting for their freedom and democracy against Sony’s mandate.
