At first glance, you might think that Helldivers 2 is a game that doesn’t take itself seriously. And, it doesn’t for the most part, especially when you hear fellow Helldivers live out their superhero fantasies on different planets as they blast their way through a PvE environment designed for chaos.
In the midst of all this, there’s an upcoming update that not only thrives at including a very special part of the community but also sparks a discussion around what (or, who) these outfits are inspired by. Apparently, these are Helldivers with mechanical limbs, and players will be able to equip their armor sets soon enough.
The community welcomes amputated veterans on Helldivers 2’s playground
In a Reddit post created by user DragoVolcar recently, a mention of some questionable outfits in Helldivers 2 has been catching up on new discussions. Conversations around the addition of Steeled Veterans Warbonds have caused quite hilarious and satirical comments to come up.
These are new outfits and weapons that can be acquired in games and bring to light stylish prosthetic limbs as part of the aesthetic. Users like Godemperortoastyy are readily defending this choice, bringing out the possible scenario that must have caused this:
You call it horrifying, I call it a fu*king miracle. Most Helldivers die on their first deployment (from my personal experience lol)
Clearly, the game’s philosophy around fighting for ultimate liberation and free will comes at a sacrifice, even if it means having artificial limbs to get the job done. Plus, they’re looking exceptionally good given how other parts of the outfit are designed.
What do players get as part of Steeled Veterans Warbonds?
These in-game cosmetics are going to over the three armor classes; Steel Trooper, Dyamo, and Servo Assisted. However, it doesn’t just end at prosthetic armor parts, there’s more to this. With the purchase of Steeled Veterans Warbonds, Helldivers 2 players will also get access to some neat weapons and capes.
Here’s everything the pack covers:
- Three pieces of armor along with capes.
- The JAR-5 Dominator and SG-225E Breaker Incendiary rifles, along with an AR-23 E Liberator Explosive.
- A P-4 Senator handgun and G-10 Incendiary grenades.
- Three in-game banners, with the Roll ’em, You’re Next and Super Person emotes.
It seems like the creative minds behind Helldivers 2 show no signs of stopping with the amount of customization that is already available in the game. Furthermore, these customizations may just be the beginning, as the game will likely add more color options for armor pieces.
