Helldivers 2 might make you think that those hardworking Helldivers have made an effort to put on some cool-looking armor and guns that are ready to cause havoc. But, deep down, a few of them just want to live the power fantasy of being a comic book superhero trying to have a good time. In fact, some of the voice lines even sound like that.

Recently, a discussion among fans has been speculating on how the community will respond to some out-of-context additions to the game’s customization options. After all, everything in the game up until now seems to be in place. But the future may have something else in mind.

Customization Options Can Often Make or Break the Experience for Players

Recently, user a-soldout made a post on Reddit putting across their thoughts on something that might shift the in-game experience for Helldivers 2 players.

The highlight of this post is how customizations will impact the experience, especially armor and gear color options that feel a bit out of place.

I look up at the sky, beyond the trees and rain, and the only thing that stands out is a bright pink Destroyer above me. Then a Helldiver, in an armor with the colors of a psychedelic trip, ragdolls next to me…he’s wearing a Winter 2024 Special Rudolph helmet.

While these words may feel painfully stimulating to some, others find the non-seriousness of them a great addition to the game. Helldivers 2 doesn’t try to take itself too seriously, and watching players experiment with their style can be a good thing.

In the past, games like Call of Duty and Rainbow Six Siege have experimented a lot with the tone of the game, and it has received mixed opinions from players across the board.

Better Customization Can Mean More Depth for Many Helldivers 2 Players

The game could make great use of detailed customization options.

Some of the comments on the post have indicated how more color options can help players better customize their characters. After all, a sense of aesthetic is subjective to each player, but few of them feel certain armor pieces don’t match one another due to existing color options.

Based on which planet you choose to play on and the overall theme of the mission, it can make sense to wear something that helps you blend into the environment. The other side to this is wearing hot pink in the snow and letting every enemy know you’re the target after all.

Or, maybe you’ll piss off your friends enough to end up as the prime victim of Helldivers 2’s classic friendly-fire shenanigans. Everything and anything is possible in this game, and that may just be reflected in its customization options soon.
