The gaming industry has been taken by storm with no end in sight ever since the release of Sony’s Helldivers 2 a few weeks prior. The game is also a sequel to the franchise’s original Helldivers game that came out almost a decade ago in 2015.
However, despite being available on PlayStation, Sony’s native console, and even PC, the game has not hit the Xbox Store yet, flaming the console wars amongst fans once again. Amidst all the chaos, fans around the globe have even started a petition online to bring the game to the other console, and are about to close in on nearly 100,000 signatures.
Fans Start A Petition To Bring Helldivers 2 To Xbox
Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2 is a game that is now in demand by players who are unable to purchase and enjoy the game as it is locked behind the exclusivity to PlayStation and PC.
In an attempt to bring the attention of the respective companies to the issue, the aforementioned petition has surfaced online demanding for the game to be released on Microsoft’s Xbox as well. It started on 15th February and has managed to gain over 83,000 signatures quickly and is on its way to reaching 100,000 signatures in a short amount of time.
The petition is also attached to what seems to be a fan depiction of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox, as seen above. Unfortunately, the chances of it happening remain slim as the game is not only exclusive to PlayStation but is an owned IP and published as a whole by Sony themselves.
Why The Gaming Industry Has Been Hit By A Helldivers 2 Epidemic
The year 2024 so far has been an amazing time, especially for those who are always out to try new and upcoming games. The year started with the huge success of Palword, an Indie game that was loved by players all around the globe, and the hype was soon shifted to Sony’s Helldivers 2.
The third-person shooter game released on 8th February is reportedly called to be one of the most fun games to experience released in the last decade, proving to be a commercial hit for the studios. It has even managed to climb to the top of Steam leaderboards for Top-Selling games, proving how millions of players had been waiting for the game to finally be released.
What makes it even more unlikely for the game to be released on Xbox is the fact that Sony and Microsoft were recently engaged in a legal battle. The lawsuit was ironically filed by Sony, claiming that Microsoft would be trying to make a monopoly by acquiring Activision Blizzard and possibly making the Call of Duty franchise exclusive to Xbox.
Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
