The Helldivers 2 community has always tried to come up with ideas and suggestions that it thinks would make the game better and bring variety to the gameplay. The game is already very chaotic and fun as it is, but fans think it could become more exciting if developers expand it better.

The community has offered its suggestions for almost everything, whether it is stratagems, weapons, or enemies. Fans now have a suggestion to extend the missions using the Pelican, which could see the players being stuck on a planet and defending themselves as the reinforcements arrive.

Arrowhead Game Studios brings new weapons and stratagems to Helldivers 2 with every latest update, but many changes haven’t been seen to the missions. Reddit user samtheman825 took to the Helldivers subreddit and suggested that the Pelican could be shot down, which would extend the missions.

The player stated that one of their friends had an idea for a “cool little side mission” involving Pelican. For context, Pelican is the call sign used by a space shuttle that arrives at the end of each mission to extract the players back to the Super Destroyer.

It would be cool if the pelican could get shot down as you extract and extend the mission.

They said that the pelican may be destroyed when it comes to extracting the players, leaving them stranded and having to defend themselves on a planet until the new one arrives or until they are unable to get to a safe extraction point.

The Player Thinks Blitz Missions Could Use This Mechanic

This mechanic could be used in the short missions.

They further said that Helldivers would have all the things they extracted during the missions as they come out of the crash, such as weapons, the current ammo count, samples, and other items. But then they would also get some things from the crash debris. They suggested that it could have two health packs like the ones in Halo.

The player added that when players are trapped on the planet, they can complete the second extraction, which would also give them better rewards. They suggested that, given how Blitz missions are very short compared to others, this feature or mechanic would extend the missions, which in turn would make things more fun.

This surely sounds exciting, and it would also make being left on a planet to survive a reality in the game. However, many players are not in favor of this, saying that it is interesting in theory but would become very boring after a few times and ruin the overall experience.

While it is understandable that players want things how they are, this change could be very beneficial to keep players who quickly get bored. Moreover, it is not to say that the idea of being lost on an unknown planet full of bugs and robots who want to kill you wouldn’t excite fans.
