Helldivers 2 understands the concept of live-service games, as Arrowhead keeps throwing new aspects towards its player base so that they don’t get bored of defending Super Earth. Not only does the developer constantly provide balance updates to its hit, but it also comes up with fresh content that players may not have expected to show up.
With the latest Helldivers 2 patch released yesterday, April 2, the studio took a “slightly bigger” approach and introduced another enemy to freedom that gamers should be afraid of.
Arrowhead Adds New Planetary Hazards to Helldivers 2
Although the new patch was supposed “to assist in the liberation efforts of” the soldiers in Helldivers 2, Arrowhead warned the player base about “some new environmental threats” that gamers may come across. Before this update, gamers had already endured various planetary hazards that disrupted their gameplay, including meteor storms, tremors, rainstorms, and more.
However, the developer has now introduced two more planetary hazards in Helldivers 2 that players have to deal with while fighting the Automaton armies: blizzards and sandstorms.
Considering how Arrowhead has nerfed Helldivers 2 weapons like the Slugger with this patch, the fight for liberty is going to get a lot tougher, especially with the new planetary hazards thrown in. These environmental threats end up reducing the players’ visibility but do not seem to have much effect on the enemies.
That means that if a blizzard or sandstorm decides to randomly show up in Helldivers 2 when gamers are close to the Automaton or Terminid armies, they really have no choice other than trying to get their vision back while ensuring that they do not fall victim to the opponents.
The Patch Brings Other Features as Well, but Not All of Them Were Announced
Although Arrowhead Game Studios clearly listed down other aspects that came with the patch, including a drastically increased level cap from 50 to 150, there were a couple of surprises awaiting the players in Helldivers 2. It seems like the developer has introduced two new enemy units out of nowhere in its game, as gamers have reported seeing massive AT-AT-inspired Factory Striders that the Automatons are using as an effective counterattack.
The Helldivers 2 community is still trying to figure out how to defeat them, but wait, there is more.
Along with the Striders that look like they have been ripped straight out of the Star Wars universe, the Automatons are also now relying on aerial support to take out the Helldivers 2 player base. These new gunships are causing even more havoc on the battlefield, but knowing the game’s huge community, it will probably figure out how to deal with the two new units quickly.
Regardless, Arrowhead Game Studios is keeping Helldivers 2 alive and thriving with these updates, making them more than welcome additions to an already exhilarating experience.
