While Sony’s Helldivers 2 might have been a major success, the journey hasn’t exactly been a bed of roses to begin with. Ranging from server issues in its initial weeks to the backfiring of savage comments made by the developers of the game, the title keeps finding itself amidst the upset of the community, and the same has happened once again with players showing their frustration due to a prominent bug that has surfaced in the game.
The new rising issue around the block is a damage bug in-game which takes away the effectiveness of certain weapons made available to the players. The problem came to light after members of the game’s official Subreddit and Discord started posting about the issue.
New Helldivers 2 Bug Surfaces Once Again To Trouble The Players
The latest weapon-balance update introduced by the studio brings with itself a boost to weapons that deal fire damage, giving Flamethrowers a huge buff. Another weapon that benefitted from this is the recently introduced Thermite grenade, which deals damage over time and tears through the enemy’s armor, making it very effective.
Unfortunately, what has rendered weapons like these useless is the aforementioned bug which causes the over-time damage effects by these weapons to vanish into thin air. The cause of this lies behind a network sync issue that the client on the player’s side has with the server, making it so these damage effects will simply not take place unless the player is the host of the session.
Players hope that the issue will be fixed as soon as it can cause a bigger problem in the future for Arrowhead Studios. Apart from the issues that players are facing with the mechanics in the game, they should also keep an eye out for a potential ambush by The Illuminate faction, who might have been waiting for the perfect chance to come back.
How The Illuminate Might Be Finally Making Their Way Back In Helldivers 2
According to speculations, The Illuminate was fighting against The Terminid led by the Hive Lords in an intergalactic war. Despite being outnumbered, it is predicted The Illuminate managed to emerge victorious in their battle, causing Hive Lords to go extinct, as hinted by their fossils found on planets in-game.
Unfortunately, it is predicted that the battle took its toll on the resources and manpower that The Illuminate held, causing them to go into hiding as they cannot fight a war on multiple fronts with The Super Earth and the Automatons at the same time. Right now also might be the perfect opportunity for them to come out of hiding as the success of Operation Swift Disassembly might have opened up a spot for another faction to sweep in.
Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
