It seems like completely wiping out the Automaton forces from Helldivers 2, except the encroaching Terminid threat from the East, was not enough. While the Helldivers 2 community was just celebrating getting rid of Automatons from most part of the game, a series of new threats are awaiting them.
If recent leaks, coming from credible sources, are to be believed, Helldivers are set to receive new threats and challenges in the coming days.
Automatons are set to become stronger according to leaks
Dataminers recently discovered proof that the Automatons are likely going to liberate Cyberstan, thus freeing their Cyborg creators. This has been speculation for quite some time now, however, now there are proofs to support it.
After the Automatons have liberated the Cyborgs in Helldivers 2, the latter will overhaul and upgrade the Automatons. The upgrade will include handing them new weapons and troop types. Among the new weapons, the most devastating one is an orbital artillery canon that is capable of taking down Super Destroyers.
Now that the Automatons will become stronger than ever, almost in league with their creators, the players will be sent back into the battlefield to reclaim Cyberstan. However, this time around it will be more difficult since there will be upgraded Automatons along with the newly sprung Cyborgs to worry about.
To support the claims, another video from Strohmann News has also leaked. The leaked video shows an Automaton fleet ten times the size of any other fleet ever seen attempting a surprise attack on Cyberstan along with its surrounding planets.
Other threats arriving in Helldivers 2
If the stronger upgraded Automatons weren’t enough, a news broadcast even states that the TCS in the Meridia system, which was originally designed to wipe out Terminids, has backfired. And as a result, the survivors are reproducing 20 times quicker than before. The Termicide, which also causes the bugs to mutate, is also rapidly spreading through the system.
Thus apart from the battle to reclaim Cyberstan, players also have but an outbreak of even stronger Terminids to deal with in the near future. If that too doesn’t scare enough, there’s more.
The Illuminate are reportedly returning from the South. Players have reported seeing their cloaked warships ominously watching over them from Automaton airspace. Some players have also seen their signature blue lasers. To add to it, an audio clip was recently leaked, wherein Helldivers can be heard being brutally murdered while screaming about the “tentacles”.
Thus, all in all, what is coming up in Helldivers 2 is even stronger Automatons paired up with Cyborgs to attack players from the West, mutated Terminids dispersing rapidly in the East, and aquatic tentacle creatures equipped with more advanced technology setting up an attack from the South. If one needs some consolation here, they can do so themselves by the fact that at least the north seems to be safe as of now.
