The fight in Helldivers 2 for Malevelon Creek was neither an easy one nor a short one, but it’s done for now. As a ton of Helldivers from across the world banded together to take back the region from the Automaton faction, the devs have decided to commemorate the occasion with a special item that’s being issued to all players. And, it looks pretty rad.
Helldivers 2 Issues Free Cape Honoring Malevelon Creek Veterans
In a touching gesture of remembrance and gratitude, Helldivers 2 has introduced a limited edition item, the Fallen Hero’s Vengeance cape, to honor the sacrifices made by players during the liberation of Malevelon Creek from the Automaton faction.
PRESIDENTIAL DECREE: The President of Super Earth has officially recognized this day as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.

The commemorative cape, featuring with the iconic skull symbol that appears when a Helldiver falls in battle, serves as a reminder of the bravery and teamwork displayed by players throughout the campaign.
The announcement came in the form of a presidential decree issued by the President of Super Earth, officially recognizing Malevelon Creek Memorial Day. In tribute to the occasion, all Helldivers were granted the special cape, allowing them to carry the memory of their fallen comrades into battle.
The addition of the Fallen Hero’s Vengeance cape was thoroughly appreciated by the gaming community. Official accounts, including PlayStation UK commemorated the fallen soldiers who played a vital role in reclaiming the planet.

A ton of players also said a few words in honor of the fallen, exclaiming that they “did it with a vengeance” in order to avenge those who sacrificed themselves for this victory.

The soldiers that fell during its retaking may be lost, but the Helldivers 2 community will never forget them.
The Tumultuous Takeover of Malevelon Creek
When Malevelon Creek was first introduced to Helldivers 2, it sparked an immediate war between the democratic forces of Super Earth and the terrifying Automaton/bots faction. Unfortunately, the first time around, the Helldivers weren’t strong enough to keep the planet, ultimately losing to the Automatons.
That wasn’t the end of the story, however. Determined to get revenge and successfully spread managed democracy across the planet, Helldivers later returned and were able to thrive and push forward in the face of adversity.
After almost 300 million enemy casualties, it was done; Malevelon Creek came under Super Earth’s power, and the Automatons were driven out. Coincidentally, the final day of the battle happened to be April 1st; take that for what you will.
Following the victorious operation of taking back Malevelon Creek, Helldivers were soon granted the power of mechs from the developers. These have been super helpful in the fight to bring peace and democracy everywhere, and will certainly be an asset as more enemy factions are revealed.
