The resemblance between the Star Wars franchise and Helldivers 2 is uncanny, if someone doesn’t know any better, they could have passed as part of a shared universe, and fans have pointed that out extensively with the Clone Wars by remaking a whole sequence based on the beloved animated show.
With the fact that Helldivers look like Clone troopers and even fight extraterrestrial and invincible enemies, a connection was bound to be made.
Star Wars fans are more likely to be captivated by the lore of Helldivers, as they also feature a Galactic War and massive space battles.
This game is certainly right up their alley, and it feels like the game was made for them and other enthusiasts of intergalactic warfare and immersive action. The Clone Wars was the height of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and has been a fan favorite ever since.

A very talented fan of both franchises named BNBaku2 shared on his X page how he skillfully recreated a short sequence of the old, animated show in the form of Helldivers 2. All assets and models were built from the ground up through the Goo engine, which is a testament to his skill and passion for the franchises.

It was only a matter of time before other popular media properties were noticed and pieced together by missile-eyed players to ask the developers if it was an homage. Unless stated otherwise, the similarities between Helldivers 2 and Star Wars: The Clone Wars are mind-blowing.
Life imitates art, the original Star Wars was based on real-life events from the previous World Wars and added an intergalactic spin to appeal to a larger audience, Helldivers 2 is a work of science fiction that has a specific target audience, people who are into shooters and warfare, but in doing so, they have inadvertly attracted another fanbase.
Helldivers 2 Could Inspire a New Star Wars Game with the Same Vein
Star Wars fans cannot relive and partake in the harrowing battles during the Clone Wars by pretending each match they join is part of the universe from a galaxy far, far away. The success of this game could generate massive demand from fans for a brand-new Star Wars game that is similar to Helldivers 2. There was meant to be a game that focused on the Mandalorian, however it was cancelled, Maybe Disney should reconsider and develop their own live-service game.
The weapons and firearms are also very Star Wars-inspired, and the whole space opera genre is very saturated in any form of media. Similarities are inevitable, and while others claim it could be a sign of laziness to just copy someone else’s homework, it can still reap benefits by attracting new people and introducing them to the franchise.
