Co-op shooters such as Helldivers 2 require a fair bit of coordination among teammates to ensure the success of the mission. While many may choose to go solo and pay no attention to team dynamics, they will soon learn that overwhelming enemy forces can only be handled through unity and teamwork.

As such, each teammate then has a specific role to play on the battlefield. While some may choose to be front-line soldiers, others may choose to take on the role of artillery to hit big targets. One class can become virtual matadors, drawing aggression to themselves for better strategizing.

Helldivers 2 Capes Can Be More Than Just Fashion Statements

Armor in Helldivers 2 offers a variety of buffs and passives that can help turn the tides on the battlefield. However, they are the only pieces of wearable cosmetics with such properties. Helmets and capes are a good way to personalize your Helldivers, but they offer nothing beyond cosmetic enhancement. But there is potential here, and some Redditors have interesting suggestions.

Cape Suggestion: Black Hole Meridia
byu/Yurishenko94 inHelldivers

Helldivers subreddit member Yurishenko94 posted an image of a cape design they created inspired by the new Major Order taking place on Meridia. The purple and black-themed cape is aptly called Black Hole Meridia. The name is catchy, but it can be much more than just a title.

User Trowewhey suggests Arrowhead should include capes that have lighting effects, allowing for not only an eye-catching new look but also bestowing on them a new buff: drawing aggression.

This may have been just a throwaway suggestion for the user, but Guryop replied to the comment with some real-world use cases for such a cape.

It would allow teams to move more strategically, enabling one Helldiver to act as a lure and funnel swarms of enemies down a favorable path where they can be led into an ambush or within the strike zone of heavy artillery and stratagems such as Hellbombs or Orbital Lasers.

Helldivers 2 Equipment Offers Great Passive Buff Capabilities

Bringing passive buffs to capes is a great way to add more gameplay elements to every mission and keep things interesting. While there are no official plans to implement such a change to capes, the same can’t be said for helmets. Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studio, stated there was already a conversation regarding helmets having a more active combat role.

The latest Major Order is bringing many new possibilities to the surface, but that’s not the only thing cropping up. Shriekers, the airborne menaces on the planet, can prove to be difficult targets to hit. If you thought the Airburst Rocket Launcher would help, especially given the name, you would be sorely mistaken. Instead, you would be better served by the trusty Flamethrower!

There are several bugs that Arrowhead needs to fix in the game, and that needs to happen sooner rather than later. Sony’s PSN account linking debacle has already affected the overall player number for the game, and the studio needs to be prompt with fixes to ensure a solid experience.
