It has taken many weeks and a lot of hard work for Helldivers 2 players to finally drive back the Automaton faction that has been causing them distress since the launch of the game, but now that they have been pushed back, a new threat could be emerging from the shadows.
Over the past few weeks, players have been datamining Helldivers 2 and looking through different leaks that have been teasing the arrival of the Illuminate faction, which was a pain in the backside in the first game, but now this power vacuum could be the perfect opportunity for them to invade the solar system.
Helldivers 2 Could Be Bringing in a Whole New Faction
At the moment, there is plenty of leaked information pointing towards the arrival of the Illuminate faction as plenty of Reddit users take to the site to reveal plenty of different animations, models, voice lines, and so much more.
Illuminate Illusionist Animations!

To begin, one of the most obvious leaks that reveals the arrival of the Illuminate is a post on Reddit that reveals a model for an enemy type known as the Illuminate Illusionist, which looks quite intimidating and formidable.
Along with these character models and animations, there has also been a leak regarding some of the Illuminate structures that may make an appearance within the game on certain planets or even ships if we are able to transport them to their ships and take them on their home turf.
Breaking News – Illuminate Ship Spotted Audio

One of the more interesting pieces of information that teases the upcoming announcement of the Illuminate is the fact that a small video from the Super Earths news broadcast has been leaked that describes the siting of an Illuminate ship, but it hasn’t been officially confirmed by the ministry of defence, teasing that these ships could be making an appearance during some missions over the coming days.

Finally, another tease from Reddit is a small audio clip that details some voice lines regarding the Illuminates and could tease a return to Super Earth, as voice lines from civilians are heard throughout the audio clip as they run in fear from “unidentified enemies” as civilians shout about the “squids being back” and how the Helldivers have arrived to save them.
These New Enemies Could Have Been Watching Us This Whole Time and We Never Even Knew
One of the scariest parts about the Illuminate faction is the fact that they are well-known for their stealth capabilities and their advanced technology. This means that for all we know, these enemies have been watching us since the battle with the Terminids and Automatons began, and there is evidence to suggest that is true.
Some players have teased that they have spotted some rather unusual ships in the sky that seem to have a unique shade to them, causing them to become invisible.

Many players believe this is our capital ships in orbit that we are seeing, but since they are incredibly difficult to see and have a reflective shine, it is likely that the Illuminates have been waiting for their time to strike.
