While everybody treats Sony’s Helldivers 2 as a casual co-op game, it somehow manages to perfectly tie in a storyline carrying over from the original title that came out nearly a decade ago. The game focuses on soldiers hailing from a futuristic version of our planet called the Super Earth, and their fight against different factions of outer space.
Amongst the chaos, a new theory has emerged, speculating how the Illuminate have been manipulating other factions so they weaken the defenses of humanity before they strike one final time.
Why The Illuminate Might Have Been Manipulating Other Factions In Helldivers 2
While it remains speculation, it is highly likely that the illuminates are manipulating other factions to do their bidding for them. One part of this theory extends to how while Blue Lasers rumor the arrival of The Illuminate, the group might already be here, and if they were the faction pulling the strings all along.
The speculation does not end there, as a deeper dive allows us to come up with a prediction of how the Illuminate knows well it is difficult to invade Super Earth and win against their defenses. This must have prompted them to manipulate Automatons and Terminids to attack humanity on their behalf, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike as soon as Super Earth’s defenses weaken.
It is important to understand how everything remains a prediction for now and nothing has been clearly stated by the developers of the game. This is essentially what makes the game so great to experience in the first place, as the ever-developing story allows the community to get together and fight as one against the opposing factions. However, the only downfall of the game might be the recent controversy over how developers chose to reply savagely to players in distress after a balance update.
Savage Attempt At Trolling Severely Backfires At Helldivers 2 Developers
The game introduced one of its first-ever balancing patch updates in the first week of March and in a controversial move, nerfed a lot of fan-favorite weapons, most of which the meta was revolving around at the time. This move was met with a lot of distress calls by players on social media platforms, some of which were answered savagely by the developers.
The developers instead of assuring the player base to trust the process and giving the reasons for the introduced updates, chose to say how the players lacked the skill needed to adapt to the new environment, and how the distress of the player base amuses them.
The situation deteriorated quickly, prompting the CEO of Arrowhead Studios, Johan Pilestedt to take the situation into his own hands by interacting with the community and issuing apologies. He also mentioned how the developers would be educated further on communication so such incidents do not happen again in the future.
Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
