There is no doubt that Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Games Studios is an amazing video game title that deserves all the love that it is receiving from around the world. The game can deliver a fun and care-free experience to its players unlike many other titles available in the market nowadays.
However, it seems the game’s community is upset for a few reasons. While the cause of this upset includes the recent balancing patch update for the game, a majority of the agitation arises from the horrible attempt at trolling by developers of the game reacting to the distress of players on Social Media platforms.
Developers Of Helldivers 2 React Dreadfully To Community’s Distress
The recent patch note has hit the whole player base of the game like a train wreck. Many players of the game even expressed their distaste for the excessive nerfing of fan-favorite weapons such as the Railgun on social media platforms.
Unfortunately, some of these were met with a non-satisfactory reply as a few of the developers decided to just troll these players instead of explaining what might be the thought process of bringing these changes to the game. Observed mostly on Reddit as well as the official Discord servers, developers opted to blame the skill level of the current player base, with one of them even stating “man watching u all cry, amuses me so much“
These insults to the player base were, as anticipated, met with a lot of backlash from the community, and the behavior was deemed unacceptable. Many netizens active on the platforms even called for the firing of their respective employees, prompting the CEO of Arrowhead Games Studio to step in and take control.
CEO Of Arrowhead Games Studio Takes Responsibility For Helldivers 2 Developers’ Behavior
The head of the game’s studio, Johan Pilestedt, is one of the most active members of the studio who interacts with fans on the internet regularly. Replying to one of the posts on Reddit, he disclosed how as a member of the communication department, he encourages the developers to engage with the community often.
He further states how this behavior was not intentional, to begin with, and they ensure everyone would continue to have a great time within the community.
While replying to another post, Pilestedt mentioned:
“We are aware of this and have taken action internally to educate our developers on how to represent the organization. This is not a message that the studio stands behind. We are always working to make as an enjoyable experience and community that we can.“
The CEO essentially takes responsibility for taking the appropriate actions with the responsible developers and making sure that the team keeps working towards delivering an enjoyable time to the players of the game and those who participate within the community.
The behavior of the developers was soon followed up with an apology which included them taking responsibility for their actions and how they would be attempting to once again gain respect from the community again.
