Helldivers 2 is currently the most popular game on Steam. Although the beginning of this game’s journey was far from smooth, with the path infested with several server crashes, it has managed to overcome all the obstacles. The wide variety of weapons is another major reason for this success.

From SG-225 Breaker to PLAS-1 Scorcher, from R-36 Eruptor (DD) to BR-14 Adjudicator, Helldivers 2 features an array of weapons in the arsenal. In a recent leak, another weapon has popped up that looks almost identical to a weapon from another famous video game series, Halo.

In a recent leaked image from a credible leaker named Helldivers Alerts, we got to see a new Helldivers 2 weapon. By looking at its looks and feel, this new weapon might be an assault rifle. Now, the interesting part is that this newly leaked weapon feels and looks almost similar to the BR55 Battle Rifle from Halo.

The BR55 Battle Rifle was introduced in the Human-Covenant War in Halo 2. This assault rifle is highly popular for its three-round burst fire mode with an accurate 2x scope. With a 36-round magazine, this “Big Boy” featured a short-stroke piston along with a rotating bolt and a locked breech.

Not only that, the leaked gun also gives us the feel of Morita in Starship Troopers. Starship Troopers is another famous sci-fi first-person shooter. So, the uncanny similarity is understandable. Morita is a standard MK2 rifle, but more of a modified version with an additional mounted scope and the absence of an under-barrel shotgun.

This is not the first time that we have seen Helldivers 2 and Halo on the same page. Since the arrival of this Arrowhead Game Studios co-op multiplayer, many have found uncanny similarities between these two sci-fi shooters. And from similarities, as a natural consequence, comes comparisons. Not only that, this comparison even turned on the heat of the so-called console war between Xbox and PlayStation fans.

However, Helldivers 2 director Johan Pilestedt is not very keen on these kinds of comparisons. He has asked the community to become more compassionate toward each other.

That’s all from our side. There is no confirmed release date from the company as to when we will see the new gun in action in Helldivers 2. Also, the name of the weapon is yet to be revealed. But the strange similarity with the Battle Rifle from another sci-fi shooter, Halo, is surely going to raise some eyebrows.

Did you find something similar in these two guns? If yes, then let us know in the comment section.
