Henry Cavill is an immensely gifted star, from his good looks to his acting talent. Having starred in numerous popular roles, the actor is best known for playing Superman in the DCEU, and Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. While he was fired from the former and left the latter, Cavill has been getting on with his career pretty well.
Now all set to star in four potentially blockbuster movies, the actor is all set to make a comeback. However, there is yet another role that he wishes to play, one that he was already rejected from 18 years ago. It is no secret that back in the 2000’s the Man of Steel star auditioned for the role of the celebrated fictional British Spy, James Bond. Even now, the role seems to be perfect for him thanks to his looks and voice. But back then Henry Cavill was rejected for being too chubby as he had revealed a few years ago to MensHealth,
“I remember the director, Martin Campbell, saying, ‘Looking a little chubby there, Henry.’ I didn’t know how to train or diet. And I’m glad Martin said something, because I respond well to truth. It helps me get better.”
But now perfectly fit and having an incredible physique, Cavill expressed that he would love to play Bond if given the chance (via Punch).
“We will see what happens. I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting.”
While no new actor has been cast yet after Daniel Craig‘s exit from the franchise, Cavill’s chances look bleak for the actor is already 40 years old. However, the world of cinema is a field of endless opportunities and who knows the actor might still get to play 007.
What’s Next For Henry Cavill?
After his alleged firing from his role as Superman, and exiting Netflix’s The Witcher series due to creative differences, for a while fans were worried about what the actor would do next. Furthermore, with the news of his James Bond casting looking bleak, his fans were more concerned about his career.
However, the actor is all set to star in four movies, that have the potential to become blockbuster franchises. Henry Cavill is reportedly attached to the Highlander reboot, while no release date has been announced.
Cavill is also set to star in the upcoming spy action movie called Argylle from Matthew Vaughn, the director of the Kingsman movies. It is expected to be released in February next year. Known for his love for video games, the actor is also attached to the Warhammer 40,000 TV series and movie and would also serve as an executive producer.
Last but not least, Cavill will be starring in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a spy movie set during WWII and directed by Guy Ritchie. The movie is expected to be released next year as well.
