Netflix’s The Witcher, a series once loved by many, has now been finding itself at the center of criticism after criticism. All of this started when Henry Cavill left the role of Geralt of Rivia, leaving the show behind for one reason or another. Ever since then, The Witcher has been facing one problem after the next.

Whether it was Henry Cavill’s exit, Liam Hemsworth’s entry, the disappointed fans, or the behind-the-scenes drama, things have not been looking the best for The Witcher. And now, it seems like the show will be seeing a final steep fall. While The Witcher was initially planned out to have seven seasons, reports suggest that season five will draw the curtain on the show, once and for all. Yikes! Henry Cavill’s exit from the show might be proving to be The Witcher’s Achilles Heel.

Fans were initially upset with Henry Cavill for leaving The Witcher to restart his Superman career. However, reports later suggested that Cavill didn’t leave the show because of Superman but rather because he was disappointed with how The Witcher was diverging from the source material. To this date, there have been no official confirmations about why exactly he left the show.

The Witcher, on the other hand, seemed to be moving forward regardless of fans’ disappointment. Netflix was quick to recast Geralt of Rivia and now Liam Hemsworth will be playing the character, despite fans’ disapproval.

Amidst all this, The Witcher finds itself in yet another predicament. According to Redanian Intelligence’s sources, the series’ future appears to be a bit hazy. The outlet revealed that Season 5 with Hemsworth is in development and so is the season after that. However, nothing can be said with certainty beyond that. Redanian Intelligence also pointed out that Netflix usually films the final couple of seasons of a series back to back, as is happening with seasons 4 and 5. This means that if the report is true, Hemsworth will only be a part of 2 seasons of the show.

With the growing criticism of the show, we wonder if fans are going to be okay with the cancellation. After all, a lot of them believe the show should end just after season three instead of replacing Cavill.

The Witcher was a fan-favorite series for a lot of people, that is until Cavill packed up his bags and left the show. Ever since then, there have been rumors flying around about the actor’s unprofessional behavior toward the team in the series, especially toward the female members. A leaked podcast transcript from Deuxmoi painted Cavill in a bad light. It stated that while there was no sexual misconduct from him, he sure was toxic towards the women on the set. He was accused of rewriting scenes without alerting the cast members and was basically shown as a horrible team member.

However, his co-star, Anya Chalotra had a completely opposite view of the actor. She called him humble, wonderful, approachable, and down-to-earth. Cavill’s fans obviously do not believe the rumors.

As for the series, The Witcher is being boycotted by a lot of fans for recasting Geralt of Rivia. They believe Cavill set the bar way too high and in their eyes, there is no way Hemsworth can live up to that standard. Things are a bit messy for the Netflix show and with season 3 being the last we’ll see of Cavill as Geralt, who knows what’s going to happen next?
