Henry Cavill has made a career out of saving other people and even the entire world on more than one occasion. However, there was once a time, way early on in his career,  when he not only could not champion other people but himself got brutally murdered by none other than a pesky Cenobite in an obscure sequel in a legendary horror franchise.

Although his character and the movie got completely overshadowed in all his Kryptonian superhero glory, his nemesis in the movie happened to claim once that he could easily beat even Superman if he so wished.

Henry Cavill’s forgotten feature in Hellraiser

The immensely popular Hellraiser franchise started its big-screen journey with the 1987 movie of the same name. Although it lost its relevance to pop culture over the years with a lot of it being direct-to-DVD, the franchise is strangely still going strong. In fact, it was even rebooted last year with Jamie Clayton appearing as Pinhead.

At the time of Henry Cavill’s feature, the franchise was almost on its last leg, with Hellraiser: Hellworld being the last movie where Doug Bradley appeared as Pinhead. In fact, it also featured Lance Henriksen as The Host.

However, even with the Hollywood legends giving it their all, the movie, unfortunately, did not fare so well with the audience. As a result, the movie not only bombed at the box office but got completely shrouded in shadows over the years.

What got even more neglected was Henry Cavill‘s feature in the movie. Especially as his character never even got to meet the final boss, aka, Pinhead, before getting murdered by one of his minions.

Henry Cavill raised hell in Hellworld

Interestingly, while Cavill has never failed to talk about the earlier days of his career, for example, his supporting role in The Count of Monte Cristo in 2002, he never once mentioned being a Hellraiser. The 2005 movie featured a group of gamers invested in playing the video game based on the Hellraiser movies. However, strange things transpire after they get invited to a party with a suspicious host to guide them.

Unfortunately, being one of the gamers, Henry Cavill still couldn’t solve the game fast enough to save himself from the Cenobites. This led to his terrible death by one of Pinhead’s minions, who flings him around a room full of containers filled with pickled heads after impaling Cavill on his hook.

Thankfully though, that was the last time he had to face such a humiliating end in any of his movies. However, although Henry Cavill himself has come quite far from that humiliating loss, Pinhead’s successor, Paul T. Taylor once mentioned that he might have Superman beat in a fight.

I mean there’s only one thing I really do and that’s, you know, make hooks and chains hurl from nowhere and catch your flesh and tear you apart. I mean, he is the Man of Steel though, so does he bleed? Does he bleed… I don’t know, I’m not an expert on Superman… I think I’d rip out his fingernails, it’s what I’d do… I don’t know how man,”

Well, although only time will tell if Superman will ever cross worlds and genres for a chance to fight Pinhead, this sure does make for an interesting conversation, especially for fans yet to watch Henry Cavill in that particular light.
