Henry Cavill’s Return to a 13-Year-Old Role Can Make DC Fans Forget Man of Steel 2

Instead of Man of Steel 2, Henry Cavill could do a much better and more remarkable job at reprising his 13-year-old role.

Henry Cavill's Return to a 13-Year-Old Role Can Make DC Fans Forget Man of Steel 2

SUMMARY

  • Henry Cavill's return as Superman in Man of Steel 2 is nothing short of impossible and unnecessary due to reasons more than one.
  • Plus, as compared to Superman, 'Immortals' has more storylines and adventures of Theseus to discover in a possible sequel.
  • Thus, instead of Man of Steel 2, Cavill could fulfill fans' other wish for an 'Immortals' sequel and set the bar straight by returning as Theseus.

Henry Cavill is one brilliant actor who can completely mold himself into whichever character he gets assigned to play. Be it the sophisticated, self-assured, and laid-back CIA agent named Napoleon Solo in an action comedy film like The Man from U.N.C.L.E., or the clever and well-learned Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher: Cavill has proved that he can do it all and with the utmost perfection at that.

This was why fans were completely starstruck when they saw him in character for DCEU’s Man of Steel; and why DC fans have been demanding for him to don the suit once again, and return in a second installment to 2013’s Superman film as well.

However, instead of a sequel where Cavill reprises his role as Superman and pulls his cape back up, there is a 13-year-old role that is more suited to return to, which could even make DC fans forget their campaigning for Man of Steel 2: that of Theseus in Immortals.

DCEU’s Man of Steel showed Henry Cavill in the character of Kal-El aka Superman. The movie was undoubtedly a spectacular masterpiece as it showed Clark Kent navigating through his life and discovering his extraordinary abilities which eventually helped him save the world.

Immortals, on the other hand, showed Cavill in the role of Theseus, a mortal stonemason (secretly a prince) whom Zeus chooses to put an end to the forces of evil and the bloodthirsty and power-hungry King Hyperion, and who ends up becoming the mighty champion who defeats the Minotaur.

Now, while fans want the Argylle star to don the cape once again for Man of Steel 2, that event seems highly unlikely and unnecessary because the legacy that Cavill has left behind for Kent does not need to be meddled with by continuing it, which could go seriously wrong if not tamed correctly.

As for Immortals, a possible sequel for the movie has a lot of storylines that it could explore. Judging from how the 2011 movie ended with Theseus’ son Acamas getting a vision of a battle in the heavens where Theseus fights alongside Zeus, Immortals 2 could continue this storyline as well.

This would have Henry Cavill reprising his fan-favorite heroic role as Theseus, all the while delving into further adventures in the mythological background of the character and discovering more about him and his family at the same time.

While DC fans might go die-hard campaigning to see their favorite actor don the suit of Superman once again, Henry Cavill returning as the superhero seems as unlikely as possible; even more so now that the DC Universe will be undergoing a complete reboot.

Moreover, everything fans wanted Cavill’s Superman to do in the DCEU was already shown in a complete storyline in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which even Zack Snyder admitted was how he intended to end the DCEU and pave the way for a reboot to start everything all over again.

Then there’s the Immortals sequel, which is another one of those sequels that fans have been asking for to see Cavill back in, for a long time now. Not to mention, seeing Cavill back in character for his almost 13-year-old role would be nothing short of an epic gift that fans could ever get.

Thus, even though Henry Cavill might not be able to reprise his role as Clark Kent, he can always fulfill fans’ other wish for an Immortals sequel and set the bar straight, even making them forget the Man of Steel 2 they so desire through his breathtaking return as Theseus!
