Since her early beginnings in showbiz as a child actor, Mary Mouser has starred in many TV and big-screen projects and is celebrated by fans for her versatility. But despite having a plethora of projects under her belt, it was her gig in the continuation of the Karate Kid franchise, Cobra Kai, which proved to be the actress’ breakout role.
While Mouser has cemented herself as a fan-favorite following her portrayal of Samantha, her journey to stardom was full of roadblocks, as she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 13. But despite this setback, the actress continues to be an inspiration for her fans, who came into her defense after trolls took a dig at her appearance.

Right before her 13th birthday, Mary Mouser recalled being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, which took a notable toll on the actress during her teenage years, as Mouser was “scared and overwhelmed by her diagnosis”. However, she didn’t let it hold her back, and things eventually ameliorated for the actress once she started using a Tandem insulin pump, for which she is an ambassador now.

Moreover, despite struggling physically during her teenage years, the actress has risen up to the physical challenges that arrived with the role of Samantha LaRusso. But even though her accomplishments and her personality make her the perfect role model for her fans, the actress has previously found herself amidst body-shaming comments from internet trolls. However, her fanbase is having none of it, as they took to X to call these trolls out, as they commend the actress.
Although Mouser has had no problem pushing herself physically for the martial arts series, it hasn’t always ended up going her way.

Considering how physical the role of Samantha LaRusso is, the Frenemies star once revealed she often found herself covered in bruises after filming the action sequences. She clarified that most of it came from her clumsiness as a person, but despite the struggles, Mauser succeeded in putting on some great action over the course of the Cobra Kai.
She recalled:
I’ve had a couple of injuries, all pretty much completely on my own. Messed myself up. Mis-blocked a kick… Had to go to the ER but I was all clear, all good! Then I fought the whole next day and did all the episode 10 of season 2 fight. The next day after that I messed up my own ankle, rolling out of bed weird. And, yeah, just ridiculous things like that! I’m very often covered in bruises while filming this show. Most of them completely self-inflicted.
With Cobra Kai set to conclude with its sixth season, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for Mouser, who continues to inspire her fans.
Part 1 of Cobra Kai Season 6 is available to stream on Netflix.
