And, recently one news broke out that now his next generation is going to walk on the same path as his son is going to make his silver screen debut. Murphy’s son Aran Murphy has been cast in New Zealand director Taika Waititi’s latest film Klara and the Sun. He will join previously announced stars Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams. And the eventual question of nepotism arrives with that.

Cillian Murphy’s Son Aran Murphy is the Newest Addition to the Cast of Klara and the Sun

Marvel director Taika Waititi’s next movie, Klara, and the Sun have added one newcomer to its cast, and it has raised some amount of criticism. The upcoming film adds Cillian Murphy‘s son Aran Murphy to its ensemble cast.

According to a Deadline report, Josie will be played by Mia Tharia (Phoenix Rise). Josie’s best friend, Rick, will be played by newcomer Aran Murphy. Klara and the Sun is an adaptation of Nobel prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro’s dystopian sci-fi novel.

The story follows Klara (Jenna Ortega), an Artificial Friend (AF) designed to prevent loneliness. She is bought by a mother (Amy Adams) to be a companion to her daughter, a sickly teenager called Josie (Mia Tharia).

Producers of the film are Heyday Films’ David Heyman, Garrett Basch, and Waititi, while writer Ishiguro is serving as an executive producer.

Amidst these, some netizens raise their thoughts of bringing nepotism once again.

Meanwhile, Aran Murphy is not completely new to acting. He has previously shown his talent by playing the title character in the play Hamnet, which was written and directed by Bush Moukarzel and Ben Kidd. He also acted in the movie Lola in 2022, directed by Andrew Legge.

However, especially in the entertainment world, the discussion of nepotism is brought in more often. The same thing is happening here as well.

Nepotism in the film industry has always been a subject of hot discussion. Some argue that it stands as a hamper for other talented actors who could not get such easy opportunities. It may be true to some extent that not every ‘nepo kid’ possesses the required skill. But, at the same time, it is also important to acknowledge that some kids, like their father or mother, do exhibit genuine talent. As they say, talent is not something that can be solely measured by one’s last name.
