“Here’s the truth: Ryan and Hugh — and the reason they’re close friends of mine is — they’re both extremely grounded generous people. And I will say, one of the great luxuries for me on Deadpool is that both of them… they love each other’s jam. So, like Hugh is such a fan of Ryan’s. And Ryan knows the opportunity that it is to have Wolverine co-star in a Deadpool movie. So, both guys are always trying to set up the other to win.”
The comment of the director has won the hearts of the fans of the actors’ fans, and this is the reason why they hold this friendship as the most sacred and real. Ryan Reynolds Convinced Hugh Jackman To Return For Over a Decade
The news of the Real Steel actor returning to reprise the role of Wolverine surely makes the fans excited about the film, as it was earlier believed that his 2017 film Logan marked his retirement from the role. Regardless, Ryan Reynolds wanted to reunite the characters and wanted them to do action alongside each other on the big screen. While fans will get to see both characters in the film together, convincing Hugh Jackman was not an easy task as The Hitman’s Bodyguard actor told ET Canada via ComicBook Movie that he kept on trying for a decade to convince him.
“We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think weirdly, the perfect time. I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I believe in timing…and I think he was ready.”
Reynolds added that in his third film, Wolverine would be different from what we had seen him previously in the other films. As a result, Hugh Jackman was convinced to return.
“I think he was excited. And what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”
The return has surely made the fans excited, as they get to see one of their favorite characters along with the old faces in the franchise, and this movie would probably explore more of MCU’s multiverse.
