It has been quite a while since it was announced that Henry Cavill will be leaving The Witcher. On top of the heartbreak, fans were also disappointed that his character, Geralt of Rivia, will be recast and Liam Hemsworth will take over the mantle. Many have stated that the creators should’ve just put a stop to the character instead of recasting him and that they would rather stop watching the show after the third season.

Season three will be the last we see of Henry Cavill in The Witcher, as Liam Hemsworth is all set to begin his journey as Geralt of Rivia. Needless to say, fans will be watching this season with a heavy heart, for more reasons than one. Anya Chalotra knows exactly what we are talking about!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chalotra stated that the news of Cavill’s exit was hard to take as he was an important part of The Witcher.

“All we knew were the feelings that we have when any season comes to an end. It’s full of pride and love and accomplishment for what we’ve done. So, we stayed in that moment rather than anything else. The news was… yeah, it’s hard to take because he’s a crucial part of the show and we all adore him. So, we’re gonna miss him a lot. I wish him all the best.”

Cavill’s exit is pretty tough on everyone, whether it is his fans or his co-workers. On the other hand, Hemsworth’s entry into the series is being met with a lot of raised eyebrows, as people simply cannot see him doing justice to the character after Cavill’s incredible and raw portrayal. However, it’s not really fair to judge Hemsworth before season 4 drops, is it? Only time will tell if this was the right way to go for the show!

After Cavill’s exit, there were a lot of rumors floating around talking negatively about the actor’s behavior on set. The rumors stated that Cavill was not at all professional and behaved miserably with the female members of the show. While no one really believed that the actor was capable of such a thing, Chalotra’s opinion about him put the rumors to rest.

In an interview with RecentlyHeard.com, Chalotra stated that it was a privilege to work with Cavill and that he was an absolute professional.

“It’s been such a learning curve for me to work alongside Henry.., [he is] incredibly professional, polite, brilliant, very experienced, clearly in the world of acting and being on sets that big, very experienced being a leader of a team with such grace. It’s a real privilege to play alongside him, especially with the relationship Yennefer and Geralt have…he was just so empathetic and his experience just helped in every conversation we had. He cares about you; he cares about the show.”

Well, it’s not like anyone really doubted the actor in the first place. In the end, it sure is going to be difficult seeing another actor in place of him, going forward. However, we do have an entire season left to cherish the wonderful portrayal of Geralt at the hands of Henry Cavill!

The Witcher season 3 releases on Netflix on June 29.
