Chris Evans reveals Taika Waititi’s red carpet clumsy moment
Captain America star Chris Evans and Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson talked about working with Taika Waititi on the Variety show Actors on Actors. Johansson had shared the screen with Waititi in the Academy Award-winning film Jojo Rabbit. Evans has also worked with the actor/director in Avengers: Endgame, Free Guy, and Lightyear.
Both the top Hollywood stars agreed that they loved working with him. Chris Evans recalled a clumsy accident of Waititi when they were at the Toronto Film Festival. The Thor: Ragnarok director proceeded to share pleasantries with the Captain America star, however, he tripped and brought down the setup.
Chris Evans recalled,
“I was in Toronto during the festival, and he crept in once while I was doing an interview, and he came to say hello to me, and tripped, and fell, and took down the whole set. It was just, only Taika.”
Scarlett Johansson replied,
“Aw, he’s so endearing.”
The duo expressed their love and admiration for the extremely talented filmmaker.
Chris Evans called Taika Waititi a Unicorn
While conversing with Scarlett Johansson about her film Jojo Rabbit, Evans asked about her experience working with Taika Waititi. The actress shared,
“It was great. When I had read the script for Jojo Rabbit, I had never seen anything like it before.”
Ghosted actor chimed in to express his love and appreciation for the filmmaker,
“I love Taika. I can’t say enough about the guy. He is a unicorn. I cannot get enough of him.”
The Lost in Translation actress added,
“Yes, I love Taika Waititi. He has an incredibly infectious personality. He’s a wellspring of ideas and one-line liners. He’s just a creative, one of those genius, once-in-a-lifetime people that come around.”
Jojo Rabbit is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Taika Waititi. He also played an imaginary and fanciful version of Adolf Hitler with a comedic attitude toward the politics of war, who was a friend of the film’s lead Jojo. The story was adapted from Christine Leunens’s 2008 book Caging Skies. It won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and was also nominated for five other genres, including Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards. It grossed a worldwide total of $90.3 million.
