The trailer for the much-anticipated romantic comedy, The Idea of You, has just been released. Based on Robinne Lee’s bestselling novel from 2017, the film stars Anne Hathaway and follows the story of a 40-year-old single mother who finds herself falling for a 24-year-old international pop star, portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine.

The Idea of You, the May-December romance revolves around Solène (played by Hathaway), a single mom embracing a second chance at love after a fateful meeting at Coachella with Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the charismatic lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. The Michael Showalter directorial film also stars Annie Mumolo, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White, and Dakota Adan.

Prime Video’s The Idea of You, starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, has drawn attention after its trailer dropped on Wednesday. The film, rated R, is said to be partially inspired by the former One Direction member, Harry Styles.

As Hayes grips Solène’s thigh while playing a song on the piano, she insists, “I’m too old for you.” But then he pulls her in for a kiss, saying: “No you’re not.”

The couple is seen embarking on romantic outings, causing Hathaway’s character to ask, “What about what people will say?” — to which Galitzine responds, “I don’t care what they say.” 

While promoting Mary & George, Galitzine spoke about the similarities between his character in The Idea of You and Styles.

Though it’s being said that the book from which the movie is adapted actually all about Harry Styles, the writer of the book Robinne Lee has been denying the fact that her book is directly based on Styles. However, both have striking parallels, and thus, it has received considerable attention from fans. 

What Has the author of The Idea of You Said About The Harry Styles Link? 

In an interview with Vogue in 2020, author Robinne Lee was asked if the novel was inspired by Harry Styles, to which she responded, “Inspired is a strong word.”

This was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles,” Lee told Vogue.

We already know that Styles dated actor Olivia Wilde following their meeting during the filming of Don’t Worry Darling in 2021. At the time, Styles was 27. Wilde was 36.

The Idea of You will be premiere on Prime Video on May 2. Before the official release date, the movie will have its world premiere at the SXSW Festival on March 16 as the closing night film.
