Riding the success of the box office like the Shai Hulud on the sandy plains of Arrakis, Timothée Chalamet is on his way to getting a massive salary boost, thanks to his back-to-back successes of Wonka and Dune Part Two. Experts have weighed in on Chalamet’s meteoric ascend, focusing on what it is about the actor that has made him so bankable.
The Wonka alum has not only wowed fans with his acting skills but has them come to theatres in droves, like kids to chocolate. When it comes to the business of filmmaking, a crucial part of the process, that aids heavily in bringing in money at the box office, is marketing, which is one of Chalamet’s strongest suits, which bodes well for his place in the industry.
Experts have already called Timothee Chalamet a leading man
Chalamet’s success has not gone unnoticed by industry analysts. Mary Parent, a producer on Dune, and Jeff Block of Exhibitor Relations have both seen what the actor can do and have commented on what makes Chalamet stand apart from his peers. Parent said, via Variety:
“We can count on one or two hands, in any age range, the people who are legitimate movie stars. Timothée is absolutely that.”
Jeff Block, an analyst, was also keen on presenting an argument in favor of Timothee Chalamet‘s stardom, which seems to be poised for another rise come Dune: Part Three, the script for which is nigh complete. Black said:
“You’ve got Glen Powell and Chalamet ushering in a new talent base of bankable stars. That’s wonderful for audiences, but even more so, a massive relief for the industry, which has been relying on aging talent for far too long.”
Chalamet might be seeing a rise that few in Hollywood can even dream of. Compared to contemporaries like Tom Holland, the actor has been able to consistently deliver hits, such that they create an air of success around his films. The actor has already done a host of critically acclaimed films and seems to be entering his well-deserved commercial era.
Timothee Chalamet loved getting into Marketing
Wonka producer David Heyman was all praises for the actor and his ability to get into the marketing aspect of his films. He revealed:
“…he’s also very savvy about marketing. He gets very engaged and brings ideas to the table.”
The actor not only sets a precedent for the current genreation of talent, but follows in on the footsteps of all the major stars that came before him, such as Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp. The actor also has a slew of films coming up, of which fans are most excited for Dune: Part Three, which is yet to be green lit by WB, but has the potential to be the next big blcokbuster for the actor.
His consitency with box office returens is what sets him apart form his contemporaries, such as Tom Holland, who are involved in the marketing, but fall short of box office draws for some reason outside of the MCU.
