Just as fans thought they had seen enough, a picture of Hideo Kojima holding the lamplight from the game sparked a discussion about how Alan Wake 2 would have played out, if the famed game director had written the story.

Kojima had once confessed to being rather scared of the horror genre, but at the same time being rather interested in working on a “certain type of horror that only people who are scared of can create.

A playable teaser was released in 2014 on the PlayStation Store, that revealed a Silent Hill game under development. However, it was taken down after just a few months, and the planned Silent Hill title was cancelled. During last year’s The Game Awards event, Kojima unveiled for the first time, an upcoming project that he has been working on, titled OD.

The first look of OD showed why it was the perfect example of a horror game made in Kojima’s style that’s both unique and rather scary. Fans won’t be surprised to see elements from the Silent Hill games featured in OD, whenever the game comes out.

For now, gamers are left to wonder just how terrifying Kojima would have made Alan Wake 2, if he had been involved with the title, bringing his unique elements of horror, drama, and suspense into The Dark Place.

Death Stranding 2‘s official full trailer features a dummy on Fragile’s shoulder, who later joins Sam Bridges on his adventures. The dummy is suited and has a beard, leading many to believe the dummy resembles Alan Wake.

It could very well be someone completely different making a cameo in the sequel, but fans were sent on a wild ride of speculations.

Sam Lake appeared in a cameo role in Death Stranding, and Kojima re-posted news about Alan Wake 2 that compared the Remedy title to Kojima’s canceled Silent Hill game.

While a real world crossover between a Kojima and Remedy Entertainment may never happen, fans would hope Kojima helms a future title for the studio, in the future.
