After the success of Alan Wake 2, Sam seems to be on vacation, or probably not, as he visited Kojima Productions while he was in Tokyo, Japan. He previously posted a video of him drinking coffee on X/Twitter, stating that he was in Japan, and fans asked him to visit Kojima.

He shared another picture today with Hideo Kojima while they’re drinking coffee, and the fan speculation has begun. Fans are saying that Lake might be appearing in DS2 in a cameo role, which wouldn’t be very surprising as he has already appeared in the original title.

One fan said, “I hope he is photo-scanning you right now while doing this,” while another added, “Sam is having a role in one of Kojima’s new projects—confirmed!.” Another fan said that they like “where these videos are going,” suggesting that something might be going on behind the scenes for the game and Lake might actually be involved.

All this is obviously speculation, unless there is any official announcement or even a hint that Sam is connected to Death Stranding 2. One fan even asked Sam if he was the other “delivery guy” in the game, with another adding that they couldn’t wait to see him in the game. Some fans just loved seeing the two geniuses together and said that it would be awesome to see them work on a game.

The sequel will see the return of Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus, who will go out on a mission to connect more of the human population together outside of the United Cities of America (UCA). He will face formidable enemies and unpredictable and challenging environmental conditions.

The game will be released for PS5 sometime in 2025, but a specific launch date has not been announced yet. Alongside Norman Reedus, several other characters are returning for the sequel, including Lea Seydoux, who plays the role of Fragile. Surprisingly, Higgs Monaghan, voiced by Troy Baker, is also returning, but Mads Mikkelsen as Cliff Unger will not be making a comeback.

As for Sam Lake, he may or may not make a cameo appearance, as he was seen as Veteran Porter in the original game. Moreover, Kojima has also appeared in Remedy’s Control, so it would make sense for Sam if he is in the game, but it remains to be seen if it would be just speculation or become a reality.
