The Soulslike games by Hidetaka Miyazaki are full of secrets, and Elden Ring is no different, with players finding hidden items and discovering things still to this day, two years after its release. While fans must have thought that they had discovered everything in Elden Ring, Miyazaki has a surprise.
Miyazaki revealed in an interview that there is still one small secret in the game that has not been discovered by players yet. So the fans have the work cut out for them in The Lands Between before they get to dive into the world of Shadow of the Erdtree.
Elden Ring Still Has One ‘Small’ Undiscovered Secret
The gameplay trailer for Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree was released on February 21, 2024, two years after its announcement, and the release date for the expansion has also been announced. Ahead of the expansion’s trailer release, Elden Ring director and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki sat for an interview with IGN and talked about the DLC.
When asked if there is anything left undiscovered in The Lands Between, Miyazaki said that almost everything has been discovered by players. He further said that he and other developers are “always surprised and delighted by how much the players do discover and how much these communities work to uncover these secrets.”
However, he added that there is a secret in the base game that hasn’t been uncovered by players. Without speaking more about what that secret is, Miyazaki said:
“For me personally, there is a small element that I feel has not yet been discovered. So, whether that’s up to user interpretation or up to just further investigation and playing, that’s something I’m looking forward to.”
But Miyazaki also thinks that the secret will be found someday by the players, and he is looking forward to it. He showed his trust in the players and added, “I think it’s a question of when and not if, but there may be something small still missing.”
Fans Discuss the Undiscovered Secret in Elden Ring
Miyazaki did not provide any hints on how to go about finding the one undiscovered secret. Elden Ring fans have been discussing the undiscovered “small element” on the game’s subreddit, and many think it’s just a prank and Miyazaki is trolling the community.
Many also added that Miyazaki is not referring to any items but to a theme or some kind of “lore connection.” Players also said that he might be talking about a “narrative or environmental theme” rather than an actual item.
A player said that this secret might be something not very significant and easily missable, and that’s why it hasn’t been discovered so far. Some players also added that it is also possible that it has been discovered, but it isn’t a very big discovery, and Miyazaki may not have heard about it.
